Universal has released the first red-band trailer for Kick Ass 2, the unlikely sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s 2010 original about costumed crime fighters with no special powers. Jeff Wadlow (Cry Wolf) directs the film, which is slated for theatrical release Aug. 16.

Reprising their Kick Ass roles in the sequel are Chloe Grace Moretz as Hit Girl, Clark Duke as Marty/Battle Guy, Christopher Mintz-Plasse s Red Mist/Mother Fucker and the very hot Lyndsy Fonseca as Kick Ass’ sweetheart Katie Deauxma and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kick Ass.

New faces include Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes, John Leguizamo (The Happening) as Javier, Donald Faison (”Scrubs”) as Dr. Gravity, Morris Chestnut (The Call) as Sergeant Marcus Williams, Russian bodybuilder Olga Kurkulina as Mother Russia and sexy redhead Lindy Booth (Wrong Turn) as Night Bitch.
