portia-de-rossi

“Arrested Development” and “Ally McBeal” stunner Portia de Rossi is the latest actor to join NBC’s “Mockingbird Lane,” a reboot of the ’60s sitcom “The Munsters.” The 39-year-old will play matriarch Lily Munster.

Abbie Cornish in ‘Robocop’ Remake? I’d Buy That for a Dollar!

abbie-cornis-sexy-robocop

MGM is courting Abbie Cornish to play Alex Murphy’s wife in director Jose Padilha’s remake of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 sci-fi classic Robocop. So far the cast includes “The Killing’s” Joel Kinnaman as Robocop, Gary Oldman as his creator and Sam Jackson as a media mogul.

Robocop tells the story of a veteran police officer named Alex Murphy who is brutally gang-murdered by street thugs only to be brought back to life as a cyborg crime fighter for the force. Things get complicated when he starts to remember his previous life.

Cornish is coming of Neil Burger’s mind-bending, dope-thriller Limitless and Zack Snyder’s criminally underrated girl-powered, fantasy-actioner Sucker Punch. She also voiced the character of Otulissa in Snyder’s animated feature Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole.

katie-cassidy-arrow

The CW has released a trailer for its upcoming superhero series “Arrow,” an adaptation of DC Comics’ “Green Arrow,” starring Stephen Amell as the vigilante superhero and Katie Cassidy as his former flame Dinah “Laurel” Lance, aka Black Canary.

The footage shows off some promising action, reveals a formidable villain in Deathstroke and provides a good look at a brunette Cassidy, who regrettably  doesn’t seem to go shirtless as often as Amell (stupid writers).

Clive Barker Will Unleash Hell in ‘Zombies vs. Gladiators’

clive-barker

Amazon Studios has tapped iconic horror novelist and filmmaker Clive Barker to rewrite Zombies vs. Gladiators, a genre mash-up built around a Roman gladiator’s quest to defeat an history’s first ever zombie apocalypse.

Barker said:

I’m excited by the opportunity to interweave two very rich narrative threads. One of them concerns itself with the reality of the decadence of Rome and its rise and fall. The other is a fantastical narrative element—the living dead.

My brief to myself on this project is to give the audience not only zombies they have never seen before but also a Rome they have never seen before.

Barker, of course, is the author of such horror classics as “The Hellbound Heart,” the novella that inspired Hellraiser, “Damnnation Game,” “Weaveworld,” “The Thief of Always,” “Imagica,” “Cabal,” on which the 1990 film Nightbreed was based on and “The Books of Blood” anthologies.

On the big screen, he’s written, directed and/or produced the must-see frighteners Dread, Midnight Meat Train, Book of Blood, Lord of Illusions, Rawhead Rex, Nightbreed, Candyman and Hellraiser I-III.

Amazon Studios launched in November 2010. It is the movie producing arm of Amazon.com.

Ashley Tisdale to Tickle Your Funny Bone in ‘Scary Movie 5’

ashley_tisdale_leggy_scary_movie

High School Musical alumna Ashley Tisdale is set to star in Dimension Films’ Scary Movie 5. Malcolm Lee (Undercover Brother) is attached to direct the horror-comedy from a script co-written by producer David Zucker (Airplane).

Scary Movie 5 goes into production this summer. Unlike previous entries in the series, which poked fun at a variety of horror movies, part five will only spoof Darren Aronofsky’s Oscar-nominated film Black Swan.

The first—and only funny—Scary Movie earned more than $270 million worldwide and helped launch Anna Faris‘ career. Since then the franchise has gone on to rake more than $750 million in global coin.
