Summit Entertainment has released the first trailer for its upcoming crime thriller I, Alex Cross, a reboot of the Alex Cross franchise launched by Paramount Pictures in 1997 with Kiss the Girls starring Morgan Freeman as Cross.

The two-minute-plus clip introduces Tyler Perry as our new Alex Cross and gives us a good look at Matthew Fox as the menacing and extremely yoked-out psychopath Michael “The Butcher of Sligo” Sullivan. The film is directed by Rob Cohen and costars Ed Burns, John C. McGinley and Rachel Nichols.

I, Madea I, Alex Cross opens in theaters on Oct. 19.
