Don’t Forget Your ‘Halloween’ Heritage!

michael-myers

Universal Pictures has released a thrilling new “heritage” trailer for the Blumhouse reboot of John Carpenter’s Halloween. David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express) is at the helm and co-writes with longtime collaborator and actor Danny McBride (”Eastbound & Down”).

Halloween creator John Carpenter is an executive producer on the film and Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as iconic final girl Laurie Strode. Judy Greer (War for the Planet of the Apes) plays Strode’s daughter, Karen,  and Andi Matichak (”666 Park Avenue”) is her hot granddaughter, Allyson.

The new film is set 40 years after the events of the original and finds Michael Myers escaping the asylum and returning to the small town where he massacred Strode’s friends on Halloween night. This time, however, she’s ready and waiting!

A New ‘Chucky’ For the ‘Annabelle’ Generation!

new-chucky

MGM wasn’t kidding about rebooting Child’s Play without Don Mancini, the film’s writer and helmer of its six sequels, and actor Brad Dourif, the voice of Chucky. The studio has announced sexy funny-girl Aubrey Plaza (Ingrid Goes West) as its star and tapped Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) to direct.

Most intriguing, however, is the first image revealed of Good Guy doll-gone-bad Chucky, now rumored to be a hacked AI programmed doll run amok (think homicidal Hello Barbie). It looks all right and the revamped story line sounds cool. It could all very well appeal to a new generation of fright fan raised on Annabelles.

But, if you prefer classic Chucky, don’t fret. Universal will continue to release the Don Mancini/Brad Dourif home edition sequels, which continue to get more outrageous and fun, and a ten-episode TV series.

Joaquin Phoenix Is No Joke As the ‘Joker’

Dnu0njfUYAALk08

Having helmed comedy classics Road Trip, Old School, and The Hangover franchise, writer/director Todd Phillips knows a thing or two about jokers. so, it’s with great enthusiasm that we wait to see his standalone Joker movie, starring Joaquin Phoenix as the iconic Batman villain.

Images and video of Phoenix in Joker makeup leaked this week and peeps are divided about the look. Why so serious? It’s not a dramatic makeover — underwhelming for some, exciting for others thrilled by its old school appeal.

Joker is set in New York City during the 70s and offers up an origins story not rooted in previous DC Comics lore, but presented as a “character study and cautionary tale” of a disregarded man.

Is ‘Captain Marvel’ Saving the World or Riding Motocross?

captain-marvel

Marvel Studios has released the first official trailer for its eagerly anticipated superhero epic Captain Marvel, starring Academy award winner Brie Larson (Room) as U.S. Air Force fighter pilot turned smoking hot heroine Carol Danvers (in the comics anyway).

Regrettably, the film has outfitted Larson in a costume resembling motocross gear, perpetuating the awful notion that women can’t be sexy and super. If that weren’t bad enough, the flick appears to be loaded with seizure inducing CGI.

girl-spiders-web

Sony Pictures on Nov. 9 will release The Girl in the Spider’s Web, a new volume in late Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s Millennium series – made popular by first novel, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” Helmed by Fede Alvarez, the film introduces Claire Foy (”The Crown”) as vigilante/hacker Lisbeth Salander.

Unlike most movies of its ilk, the series has avoided casting hot chicks in revealing attire as its feminist, ball-busting hero and instead goes out of its way to make sure the character is as appealing as a punch to the dick. Alvarez had an opportunity to change this, but opted to give us the least sexy Lisbeth yet.

Penis apologist Alvarez explains:

[Claire] reminded me every day, ‘You’re a male white man, Fede, don’t forget’…but it’s true, there’s a point to that. Every moment, if I’m shooting her, it’s like ‘Am I making it too sexy right now? Maybe I should pull back.’ It was super present in our heads more than it even would be because it was coming right when [the Me Too movement] was happening. It was the perfect movie to honor that, to make sure we didn’t do anything that was stupid exploitation-y.

Allowing her to not care about how she’s going to look…Look at the other movies, and other superhero movies where they are so proud that there’s a female in front of it. I still see it a little bit as like, well, but they still ask you to look impeccable, and pretty, and [in] tight clothes and stuff like that. I’m not saying it’s bad, I’m saying at least in this one we didn’t do any of that. We really embraced it in a way that, for a movie of this size, I tell you it has never been done before.

jordana-brewster-hot

Jordana Brewster will have to stay fast and furious if she’s to survive Random Acts of Violence, a road trip thriller written and directed by comedic actor Jay Baruchel (“Undeclared,” “Man Seeking Woman”). The film is adapted from a graphic novel of the same name.

Brewster plays the very hot girlfriend of a talented comic book creator (Jesse Williams) driving from Toronto to New York for Comic-Con with his assistant (Niamh Wilson) and best friend (Baruchel). Things take a wrong turn when a fan starts following them and killing people in the same manner his comic does.

Brewster made her feature film debut in Robert Rodriguez’s 1998 high school thriller The Faculty and, until now, had only been in one other horror film, Jonathan Liebesman’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. She is best known for her role as Vin Diesel’s sister (now that’s scary) in the Fast & Furious franchise.

Alexandra Daddario Is a Heavy Metal Hottie In ‘We Summon the Darkness’

alexandra-daddario-boobs

Alexandra Daddario is set to star in We Summon the Darkness, a new fright flick from director Marc Meyers (My Friend Dahmer) and writer Alan Trezza (Burying the Ex). Set in the Midwest, the film follows a group of headbangers tormented by homicidal satanists.

Daddario plays the super-busty leader of her girlfriends out to catch a heavy metal concert. They meet three rocker dudes and head to Daddario’s character’s country home to keep the party going. The good time comes to a halt when a cult of devil worshipers cock-block everyone with their rude murder spree.

Horror fans first fell hard for Daddario in Stevan Mena’s Malevolence 2: Bereavement and have since enjoyed her enormous talents in big Hollywood fare such as Baywatch and blockbuster San Andreas, the Texas Chainsaw reboot, and the acclaimed HBO serial killer drama “True Detective,” in which she floored viewers with her heart-stopping nude debut.
