Matthew Fox has been cast as vicious serial killer Michael “The Butcher of Sligo” Sullivan in director Rob Cohen’s (The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor) adaptation of bestselling author James Patterson’s I, Alex Cross. The film marks Fox’s  first major role since ABC’s Emmy award-winning series “LOST.”

Produced by QED International, I, Alex Cross stars Hollywood mogul and 6-foot-5 transvestite Tyler Perry as the titular detective and Ed Burns as his friend and partner Det. Tommy Kane. The film’s plot will differ from Patterson’s novel, but still revolves around The Butcher’s murder of Cross’ wife.

QED is currently shopping the project to distributors as the first in a three part Alex Cross reboot. Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman originally played Alex Cross in Paramount Pictures’ Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider.

Fox, of course, starred as Jack Shepard on the greatest show that will ever be “LOST.” His big screen creds are less impressive: Vantage Point, Speed Racer, and We Are Marshall.

Producers Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody (Resident Evil: Afterlife) announced today that Silent Hill stars Radha Mitchell (pictured above), Kara Unger, and Sean Bean have been cast in their long-awaited sequel Silent Hill: Revelation 3-D. The actors join newcomers Adelaide Clemens (Vampire) and Kit Harington (“Game of Thrones”).

Says director Michael J. Basset:

It wouldn’t be the same without some of the original Silent Hill cast. Sean, Radha and Deborah’s return will certainly thrill fans of the franchise and compliment Revelations stars Adelaide and Kit.

Cinematographer Maxime Alexandre, who worked on last year’s The Crazies and Alexandre Aja’s gruesome 2003 slasher High Tension, promises a 3-D experience worthy of raiding your mom’s purse. He says:

With the most advanced technology available, in particular the lighter, smaller and more flexible 3D Red Epic, we are able to take audiences deeper in the world of Silent Hill than they ever dreamed possible. Devotees will finally be able to enter this realm along side of Heather, Vincent, Harry and Rose and experience the psychological horror and the fear of the unknown with them.

The original Silent Hill, directed by Christophe Gans and penned by Roger Avary, has earned over $99 million worldwide and over $22 million in U.S. DVD sales.

Mitchell, a favorite among horror fans, made her genre debut in the 2000 sci-fi actioner Pitch Black. Other creds include Richard Franklin’s (Psycho 2, Cloak & Dagger) boat thriller Visitors, Greg Mclean’s giant-croc frightener Rogue, Jonathan Mostow’s sci-fi mind-bender Surrogates, Breck Eisner’s The Crazies, and Julie Delpy’s upcoming Erzsebet Bathory bio-pic The Countess.

“Big Love” star Chloe Sevigny is taking a swing at a new HBO miniseries set around the 1892 hatchet murders of Andrew and Abby Borden. Sevigny has been cast in the role of the Borden’s daughter Lizzie, who was arrested for the crimes, but acquitted during trial.

Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman (Silence of the Lambs) will produce the four-part miniseries through their company Playtone. Sevigny is also serving as an executive producer on the project. Some douchy-looking guy named Bryce Kass is writing the script.

Sevigny will also be seen in Jonathon Caouette’s upcoming art-house thriller All Flowers in Time. Her creds include David Fincher’s Zodiac, Jonathan Liebesman’s The Killing Room, and Mary Harron’s big screen adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel American Psycho.

Canadian actress Leslie Hope has landed the lead in Paranormal Activity director/producer Oren Peli’s new ABC pilot “The River.” Hope will play a television producer named Tess, who sets out to find her husband six months after he goes missing while filming a reality TV show set in the Amazon.

The show’s synopsis reads:

Tess, a world traveler and top-notch producer who, six months after her TV explorer husband Emmet Cole (Bruce Greenwood) goes missing in the Amazon, receives a signal from his beacon. Convinced that Emmet is alive, Tess forces her reluctant son Lincoln (Joe Anderson) to abandon his medical studies and lead a rescue expedition.

“The River” is produced by Peli with partners Jason Blum and Steven Schneider. The pilot episode will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Orphan, Unknown) from a script by Peli, Michael Perry (Paranormal Activity 2), and veteran scribe Michael Green (“Heroes”), who was brought in to rewrite the original draft.

Hope has most recently held a recurring role on the CBS crime drama “The Mentalist,” but is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Teri Bauer, Jack’s doomed wife, on the Fox series ’24.’ She also starred in the Kevin Costner supernatural drama Dragonfly and director George Romero’s revenge-thriller Bruiser.

The first official trailer for writer/director John Pogue’s viral outbreak thriller Quarantine 2: Terminal is now spreading across the net. The film stars Swedish (oh, yeah!) actress Mercedes Masohn (not pictured above) as an inexperienced flight attendant who must deal with infected passengers the only way she knows how … erotic Swedish massage!

Quarantine 2: Terminal starts right after the events of the previous film at LAX, as passengers board a flight to Nashville. When a passenger becomes violently ill with a mysterious rabies-like virus, the plane makes an emergency landing at a large metropolitan airport.

Jenny (Masohn), a heroic yet inexperienced flight attendant, takes charge of the safety of her passengers. Relieved when a swarm of heavily equipped emergency vehicles, police units and the CDC arrive, Jenny and the passengers soon discover that they have been quarantined and are now trapped.

Desperate to escape, Jenny enlists the help of one of the surviving passengers, a kindergarten teacher, Henry (Josh Cooke), to devise a plan to survive.

Sounds pretty cool, but I like my idea better.

Pogue, who makes his directorial debut with Quarantine 2, also wrote the scripts for Ghost Ship, U.S. Marshals, and The Skulls 1-3. The original Quarantine, directed by John Erick Dowdle (Devil), earned over $41 million in worldwide coin when it was released in ’08.

Michelle Rodriguez is set to star in Dimension Films and Troublemaker Studios new supernatural frightener The Home, slated to shoot this summer. The film follows a badly burnt and emotionally crippled firefighter attempting to recuperate at a nursing home where evil spirits appear to be tormenting the elderly residents.

Despite owning a tight bod and looking pretty glam these days, Rodriguez has got all the femininity of a trucker named Sea Bass so I’m guessing either she’ll play the firefighter (which is written male, but could change) or will be the firefighter’s friend.

Rodriguez can currently be seen on the big screen as a U.S. marine fending off an alien attack in Battle: Los Angeles. She’s also starred as a tough combat pilot in Avatar, a tough activist in Machete, a tough vampire slayer in BloodRayne, a tough commando in Resident Evil and as a tough cop on ABC’s “LOST.”

Jennifer Lawrence has been offered the lead role of Katniss in Lionsgate adaptation of author Suzanne Collins beloved book series “Hunger Games.” The 20-year-old starlet, who scored a Best Actress nom for her performance in the indie drama Winter’s Bone at this year’s Oscars, reportedly beat out 14-year-old’s Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) and Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) for the part.

Hunger Games finds survivors of an economically and socially collapsed America competing in televised death games in a new country named Panem. Two citizens from each of Panem’s 12 districts are chosen to participate by lottery each year. When 16-year-old Katniss’ younger sister is selected, Katniss volunteers to take her place.

Lawrence will next be seen as young mutant Mystique in director Mathew Vaughn’s  X-Men: First Class and as a teen who befriends a suspected killer in Mark Tonderai’s new thriller House at the End of the Street.

Lionsgate has released a teaser trailer for director Marcus Nispel’s upcoming Conan the Barbarian reboot. Not much is seen in the footage provided, but Jason Momoa–who stars as Conan–appears to look the part well enough to inspire caveman fantasies in your girlfriend.

Conan costars Stephen Lang, Ron Pearlman, Rose McGowan, Rachel Nichols, and Rachel Nichol’s large, beautiful breasts.  The film arrives in 2-D and 3-D in theaters on Aug. 19.

The film’s synopsis reads:

After being held in a coma-like state for fifteen years, vampire Selene learns that she has a fourteen-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter, Nissa, and when she finds her, they must stop BioCom from creating super Lycans that will kill them all.

Underworld 4: New Dawn is directed by Swedish filmmakers Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein (Shelter). John Hlavin (”The Shield”) is attached as screenwriter. The film arrives in theaters in 2-D and 3-D on Jan. 20, 2012.

Former “House” star Jennifer Morrison has scored the lead role of Anna on ABC’s new fairy tale themed pilot “Once Upon a Time.” The 31-year-old actress joins a cast that includes Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming, Jamie Dornan as a Sheriff of Storybrooke, Jared Gilmore as Anna’s son Henry, and Lana Parilla as the Evil Queen.

Created by “LOST” executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, the show follows Anna as she’s beckoned to the small town of Storybrooke by her biological 10-year-old son Henry to break the spell the Evil Queen has cast upon them.

Morrison, who starred as Dr. Allison Cameron for six seasons on the Fox medical drama “House,” made her horror film debut in the 1999 supernatural frightener Stir of Echoes. Her first lead role came a year later in the slasher Urban Legends: Final Cuts. She was most recently seen as Captain James T. Kirk’s wife on J.J. Abrams’ 2009 Star Trek reboot.
