Having starred as Prince Caspian in Walden Media’s Chronicles of Narnia films Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Ben Barnes may know a thing or two about adapting literary works for the big screen … or not. Either way, the 30-year-old British actor is talking about his next book-based fantasy adventure The Seventh Son.
It’s nothing like the first book really. I don’t think it’s particularly like ‘The Hunger Games’ or ‘Twilight’ where you can go ‘based on the books,’ because I don’t think this series is as popular yet, so I think there’s a chance to rewrite and make the best movie for the movie’s sake.
I think sometimes when you stick exactly to the book, there’s a danger of it becoming a bit literary, so I think visually they want to make the most exciting film so they’ve changed a lot.
My character in the book is 13 or something, but then the romance element in the book doesn’t really make any sense – it makes more sense to have those characters a little older.
Some of the story in the first book is very static so this is going to be a lot more visual and action-oriented.
The Seventh Son is based on young-adult novelist Joseph Delaney’s “The Wardstone Chronicles,” the first volume in his book series “The Last Apprentice.” Barnes plays Tom Ward, a young man training to be an exorcist in the 1700’s under the tutelage of Master Gregory, aka Spook (Jeff Bridges). Julianne Moore stars as the evil witch Mother Malkin.
Sergei Bodrov directs the Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ production, now shooting in Vancouver.
Bollywood starlet Mallika Sherawat plays a serpent-woman known in Eastern folklore as the Nagin in the Jennifer Lynch-directed creature-feature Hisss. The film, which wrapped last year, was meant to introduce the gorgeous 34-year-old—considered the Marilyn Monroe of India—to American audiences, but never locked distribution.
Earlier this year, Lynch (daughter of David Lynch and director of Boxing Helena and 2008’s exceptional serial killer drama Surveillance) expressed her dissatisfaction with the producers of the film and revealed that she had been booted from the editing room and had no idea what the final cut of the movie now looks like.
Well, I’ve got some good news for Lynch and those who are still eager to see Sherawat slithering around half-naked and swallowing men whole: Hisss is now available for rent at all Redbox kiosks. Sure you may have to jump over hobos and/or risk getting mugged by a guy in a Tony Montana tee, but it’ll only cost you a dollar to peep the flick.
Dark Knight Rises star Marion Cotillard was photographed swimming topless on the set of her new film Rust and Bone, a French drama based on a book about amputees and orcas—and no, the whales don’t terrorize and kill bikini-clad beach goers.
Nonetheless, Cotillard has earned a place on this blog thanks to her recent work in Steven Soderbergh’s viral outbreak thriller Contagion and Christopher Nolan’s Inception. The 36-year-old looker is also staring in Nolan’s Dark Knight Rises as Talia al Ghul, daughter of villain Ra’s al Ghul and Batman love interest.
So, you see, there’s no need to feel like your favorite little horror blog has sold out its principles for a quick spike in traffic. Just sit back and enjoy the insanely large Oscar-winning areolas pictured below and here.
Filmmakers David Buchert and Chris St. Croix have released a NSFW (boobies! hurray!) trailer for the first two 25-minute episodes of their upcoming anthology series Night Terrors. First up is Croix’s “The Keeper,” an impressive stylized monster feature set in what appears to be a small town ruffian bar.
It’s followed by Buchert’s “Dummy,” a cat-and-mouse slasher that introduces what has got to be one of horror’s most creepiest masked killers. It also gives us a peek at sexy newcomer Olivia Bishop, who appears to spend most of her screen time on the run, clad only in her bra and panties (again … hurray!).
“The Keeper” and “The Dummy” are slated for release in November and December, respectively. No word on what format the episodes will be made available, but you can stay informed by visiting the film’s official YouTube page and its Facebook.
Sony Pictures has set a Dec. 27 Unrated-DVD release date for Hostel 3, the second sequel to Eli Roth’s 2006 masterpiece. Directed by Scott Spiegel (executive producer on Hostel 1 & 2) from a script by Michael Weiss (Journey to the Center of the Earth), the plot follows four friends lured away from a Vegas bachelor party by two sexy escorts, who inadvertently deliver them to the Elite Hunting Club.
Peep it:
Hostel 3 stars Thomas Kretschmann (“The River”), John Hensley (the son on “Nip/Tuck”), Kip Pardue (Remember the Titans), Skyler Stone (Rules of Attraction), Chris Coy (“True Blood”), Sarah Habel (The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations), and hottie model/actress Kelly Thiebaud (“The Secret Life of the American Teenager”).
While I’m still disappointed by Roth’s lack of involvement in the project, I’m totally digging the trailer. What made the first two Hostel films especially frightening to me was the knowledge that—like the characters—I too could be led to a wretched death by my penis. Setting the new sequel in Vegas amidst gorgeous butt-shaking strippers only helps to bring the horror closer to home!
I do hope that the Hostel franchise will continue and I like the idea of visiting Elite Hunting Clubs around the world in debauched tourist-trap cities such as New Orleans, Ibiza, Bangkok, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and Tijuana (two words: donkey show).
Jeepers Creepers director and convicted child molester Victor Salva has definitely had his share of kid-related troubles so it comes as no surprise that the monster in his new film Rosewood Lane, his first in five years, is a teenage paperboy (Daniel Ross) with a proclivity for nursery rhymes and stalking.
Shot in Los Angeles, the thriller stars Rose McGowan as a talk-radio shrink who moves back into her childhood home only to find herself terrorized by the paperboy who tormented her father up until his death. Costars include Ray Wise (“Twin Peaks”), Lin Shaye (Insidious) and Lauren Vélez (Captain LaGuerta on “Dexter”).
Rosewood Lane will have its premiere this weekend at Screamfest LA.
Bag of Bones is the story of Mike Noonan (Brosnan), a widower who gets mixed up with an attractive young widow (George) while visiting the lakeside retreat he once shared with his wife (Gish)—whom he still sees in his dreams.
A&E will air the mini on Sunday, December 11th and Monday, December 12th.
Tiny waist, giant boobs, skimpy outfits—the animated babes found in video games and comic books are pretty racy. Unfortunately, the sling bikinis and thigh-high boots never make the wardrobe when played on the big screen by Hollywood starlets. Thankfully, animated features deliver a more thrilling portrayal.
Take DC and Warner Bros’ home-video original Batman: Year One. Both the DVD and Blu-ray include a bonus 15-minute film that finds Catwoman (voiced by “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Dollhouse” babe Eliza Dushku) working as a stripper to get close to diamond smuggler Rough Cut.
DC Universe will premiere the short at the New York Comic-Con this Friday so don’t expect any leaked footage until about 30 seconds after the presentation goes down. In the meantime, peep the pic:
