Emma Dumont, of short lived X-Men series “The Gifted” and Charles Manson crime-drama “Aquarius,” co-stars alongside Spanish stunner Charlotte Vega (REC: Genesis) in Constantin Film’s reboot of its 2003 backwoods horror gem Wrong Turn.
Helmed by Mike P. Nelson (The Domestics) from a script by original Wrong Turn scribe Alan B. McElroy, Wrong Turn: The Foundation pits six New Yorkers against a mysterious and dangerous community living in the West Virginia mountains.
The original Wrong Turn starred Eliza Dushku (“Buffy the Vampire
Slayer”) as a final girl hunted by inbred cannibals in the West Virginia
mountains. The film took more than $28 million and spawned five gory
and highly entertaining sequels.
Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola reminded us recently that superhero movies, Marvel in particular, are not cinema. Peeps got very angry because it’s true—Joker and Logan being notable exceptions.
One glaring example of why comic book movies aren’t cinema is the lack of character depth. Take for instance the Hulk in The Avengers. Hulk should be rage personified. But, now, he’s become a bigger puss than Mark Ruffalo’s vagina. Original CBS Hulkster Lou Ferrigno calls him out on it.
Ferrigno says:
The Hulk needs to be hideous, he needs to be a creature. You see in ‘Endgame,’ Mark Ruffalo—I think it has a lot to do with him and Disney— I didn’t like the way it portrayed [Hulk]. It took away that beauty, that quality of the Hulk. That’s why a lot of people liked the series.
Mark is a wonderful actor. But we’ve had three different actors—we’ve had Eric Bana, Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo. I like Bill Bixby the best, I like Edward Norton. But Ruffalo—I think he’s a wonderful actor, he blends in with the Marvel aspect of the Avengers—but I can’t take him seriously enough.
Bill has that intensity, and you knew that when he was in danger, you could feel that intensity. But because of Marvel and Disney, they’ve taken a different direction. You can’t take it as seriously as the original series.
Lou is 100% correct…and Ruffalo isn’t a wonderful actor. Lou is just being nice.
Kristen Connolly is joining Ana de Armas and Rachel Blanchard in celebrated Fatal Attraction, Indecent Exposure, and Unfaithful director Adrian Lyne’s new erotic thriller Deep Water, starring Ben Affleck and based on the novel by renowned novelist Patricia Highsmith.
Deep Water tells the story of a beautiful wife (de Armas) in a loveless marriage who makes a a willing cuckold out of her husband (Affleck) to keep their wedded facade going. When he grows resentful and bodies of her former lovers start popping up, she soon must find a way out before death do they part.
No word on what role Connolly plays in the film, but we hope it involves frivolous nudity and lesbian shenanigans.
Horror fans will recognize Connolly from her roles in Barry Levinson’s outbreak thriller The Bay and Drew Goddard’s fuck you to fright fans A Cabin In the Woods.
Brighton Sharbino, who played little sociopath Lizzie Samuals on AMC’s “The Walking Dead” up until Carol made her “look at the flowers,” is blossoming into a fine young lady, which is of no surprise being her big sister is stunner Saxon Sharbino.
Sharbino stars opposite Dominic Monaghan (“LOST”) in the apocalyptic thriller Radioflash. She plays Monaghan’s tech-savvy daughter who must learn survival basics when the world goes black and she must fend off new and familiar dangers in new lawless land.
Blumhouse has released a first trailer for its big screen adaptation of ABC’s classic late-70s/early-80s series Fantasy Island. Slated for release Feb. 14, 2020, the film is helmed by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) from a script he wrote with Jillian Jacobs (Truth or Dare) and Christopher Roach (Truth or Dare).
“Fantasy Island” follows guests to a magical island where their wildest wishes come true, but with potentially devastating consequences. Lucy Hale stars as a guest to the island with Michael Pena (“Narcos: Mexico”) in the the iconic role of Mr. Roarke – made famous by Ricardo Montalban.
Universal Pictures has released a first trailer for The Invisible Man, a modern day re-imagining of the classic H.G. Wells’ novel about a brilliant scientist who wreaks havoc on humanity when he discovers how to become invisible.
This time out, the mad genius (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) is also a stupidly rich and abusive husband who, after conquering invisibility, feigns his own death as part of a malicious scheme to punish his homely wife (Elisabeth Moss) for leaving him. Why he wouldn’t just use his power to spy on college coeds a la School Spirit is beyond us, but this looks like a thrilling remake…or what could have been a solid Hollow Man 3.
The Invisible Man is helmed by SAW scribe and Upgrade director Leigh Whannell. It appears in theaters Feb. 8, 2020.

Thai director Ping Lumpraploeng’s indie creature-feature The Pool is now showing on Amazon Prime. Winner of the Fantastic Fest award for Most Fun Movie to Watch with an Audience, the thriller stars Ratnamon Ratchiratham (pictured) and Theeradej Wongpuapan as a couple trapped in a drained six-meter pool.
Things get deadly for the young lovers when a man-eating crocodile climbs through the drain at the bottom of the pool and attempts to make a meal out of the couple. Ratchiratham, a Thai pop singer, makes her acting debut with the film.
Sony Pictures has released a first trailer for its Ghosthouse reboot of the 2004 box office hit The Grudge. In theaters Jan. 3, the thriller is helmed by Nicolas Pesce (The Eyes of My Mother) from a script by Jeff Buhler (Midnight Meat Train).
Andrea Riseborough (Oblivion) stars as a detective investigating the strange goings-on inside what appears to be a haunted house. Things go from spooky to deadly when the entity cursing the house follows her home, threatening to unleash its wrath on her family.
Co-starring alongside Riseborough in the reboot are Lin Shaye (Insidious), Demian Bichir (“The Bridge”), John Cho (“The Exorcist”), Jacki Weaver (Stoker), and busty stunner Betsy Gilpin (“Glow”).
The original Grudge, a remake of Japanese director Takashi Shimizu’s 2002 ghost thriller Ju-On, starred Sarah Michelle Gellar (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) as an American nurse in Tokyo tormented by an evil birthed from rage.
Disney has released an amazing new trailer for “The Mandalorian,” the eagerly anticipated original Star Wars series from producer, writer, and creator Jon Favreau premiering Nov. 12 on Disney +. The show follows a Mandalorian gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of the First Order.
Mandalorians are a multi-species of warriors from the planet Mandalore known for their work as mercenaries and bounty hunters and their distinctively cool armor — the most infamous in the Star Wars universe being Boba Fett. Pedro Pascal, of “Narcos” and “Game of Thrones” fame, stars as the titular Mandalorian.
“The Mandalorian” co-stars Nick Nolte, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito (“Breaking Bad”), and Gina Carano (Haywire). Notable directors include Taika Waititi (Thor: Rangarok), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Deborah Chow (”Better Call Saul”), Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard, and Dave Filoni (”Star Wars: The Clone Wars”), who helms the pilot.
