‘The Crow’ Looks to Soar Again

crow

Great news for fans of The Crow. The tragic antihero is getting a slick new franchise. Producer Ryan Kavanaugh told io9.com that the finishing touches are being made on a script and that casting has begun. Stephen Norrington (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Blade) is attached to direct.

Kavanaugh states:

The script is great. We’re very excited about it. The Crow is definitely going to happen, we’re just getting all the pieces together right now. It’s not officially greenlit, but it’s going to happen… I think in a couple months we could have the package together for sure.

The Crow was created by comic artist James O’Barr in 1989. A film adaptation starring Brandon Lee was produced in 1994 to big success. Unfortunately, a tragic prop gun accident claimed Lee’s life on the set. Actor Vincent Perez took over the role in 1996’s The Crow: City of Angels. He survived the shoot, but not the disappointing box office that followed. Rumor has it, he’s now serving Pomegranate Pick-Me-Up’s at Jamba Juice. Ok, I just started that rumor. Pass it around. Let’s see if it takes!
