Gina Carano, star of Fast & Furious 6 and Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire, is set to star alongside Ryan Reynolds in Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Comics’ long gestating superhero project Deadpool. Visual effects artist Tim Miller makes his feature debut with the film, set to release Feb. 12, 2016.

Deadpool is a foulmouthed, sarcastic, mentally unstable mercenary with regenerative healing powers like Wolverine. The film is reportedly budgeted at $50 million, and expected to be rated a hard R. Carano will play Angel Dust, a member of the underground mutant group The Morlocks.

Carano, a former MMA fighter, made her acting debut in Steven Soderbergh’s star-studded 2011 action-drama Haywire, and co-starred in 2013’s Fast & Furious 6. She will next be seen in Turistas director John Stockwell’s island-thriller In the Blood.
