Petite stunner Juno Temple is set to face the Batman in geek-messiah Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, the final chapter in his caped crusader trilogy. The 21-year-old Brit will play a character only described as a Gotham street hooker … oh, wait, the press release says “street-smart Gotham girl.” Damn you, wishful thinking!
Batman fans have lit up the internet chat boards to fool themselves into thinking they have friends and to discuss exactly what character Temple is playing in the Warner Bros. release. Some believe she’ll suit up as Batgirl; others suggest Robin. I hope they go the Frank Miller “Batman: Year One” route and cast her as teen-prostitute-turned-Catwoman-sidekick Holly Robinson.
Temple joins a cast that includes new faces Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy and franchise players Michael Cane, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, and—the Batman himself—Christian Bale. The film arrives in theaters on July 20.
Temple can currently be seen all-kinds of nude in director Gregg Araki’s (The Doom Generation) arthouse sci-fi comedy Kaboom. She also stars opposite Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough in Bradley Rust Gray’s still-delayed teen lesbian werewolf thriller Jack & Diane.
