Move over “Watchmen,” “The Boys” are here to spank superhero ass with zero pretensions and a whole lotta pizazz! The new Amazon Original series premieres today and has already been greenlit for season two on the strength of its execution and buzz.

Like “Watchmen,” the series presents a world where costumed heroes aren’t always super. In this world, superheroes are superstars—revered celebrities with way too much influence. And , like celebrities, they’ve become selfish, narcissistic assholes who need to be checked.

Enter “The Boys.” Led by Karl Urban at his most angry setting, this gritty group of vigilantes are out for corrupt superhero blood using nothing more than their rage and willingness to fight dirty.
