Chinese actress Jing Tian is set to co-star in Steven S. DeKnight’s sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 mecha-inspired robot vs. sea monsters epic Pacific Rim. Slated for release Feb. 23, 2018, Pacific Rim: Maelstrom follows a new group of Kaiju-fighting Jaeger pilots, led by the son of fallen hero Stacker Pentecost.

Movie details are scarce and Tian’s role remains a mystery, but she stars alongside Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad), tween pop singer Cailee Spaeny, and John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), who toplines as Pentecost’s son. Cameras will roll this November in Australia.

Pacific Rim: Maelstrom is just one of the high-profile projects on Tian’s dance card. She will also be seen in Jordan Vogt-Roberts eagerly anticipated King Kong reboot Kong: Skull Island and the Chinese monster movie The Great Wall, starring Matt Damon.
