Gareth_Edwards_Star_Wars_7

Monsters and Godzilla director Gareth Edwards has been tapped by Disney and Lucasfilm to direct the first stand-alone Star Wars feature film, slated for release Dec. 16, 2016. Which movie Edwards will helm remains top secret, but if rumors are correct it would be based on Boba Fett, Han Solo, or Yoda.

Edwards said:

Ever since I saw Star Wars I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life — join the Rebel Alliance! I could not be more excited and honored to go on this mission with Lucasfilm.

The Star Wars stand-alone film will be penned by Book of Eli and After Earth screenwriter Gary Whitta, who described the Saga as “the single most profound inspiration to my imagination and to my career as a writer.”

Said Whitta:

[Star Wars] is deeply special to me so to be given the opportunity to contribute to its ongoing legacy, especially in collaboration with a film-maker as talented as Gareth, is literally a dream come true. I’m still pinching myself.

The force, meanwhile, is strong with Edwards, who is confirmed to return to the director’s chair for Legendary Pictures’ Godzilla 2 and 3. He also serves as executive producer on Monsters: Dark Continent, a sequel to his 2010 feature film debut Monsters.

Star Wars: Episode VII arrives in theaters Dec. 18, 2015.

Then check out The Purge: Breakout attraction, touring across the country to promote the Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions sequel The Purge: Anarchy.

The Purge: Breakout is an interactive experience in which peeps are taken hostage 30-minutes before the annual Purge, and must work together to escape the madman responsible. The attraction kicks off in Atlanta on May 30 and wraps in Los Angeles July 11-20. Click here for additional cities and dates.

Blumhouse founder Jason Blum says:

Our goal with The Purge: Breakout is to bring the universe of The Purge films directly to the audience. This experience allows fans across the county the chance to immerse themselves in the intricate world that the series’ writer-director, James DeMonaco, has so painstakingly crafted. We hope that they enjoy being scared out of their minds.

AnnaPaquin-True-Blood-sex

HBO has released a full-length trailer for the seventh and final season of its vampire soap “True Blood,”starring Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse, a small town waitress and faerie whose love affair with vampires Bill Compton and Eric Northman brings death and misery to everyone she’s ever known.

Well, that’s how I saw it anyway.

“True Blood’s” final season picks up in the midst of the Hep-V outbreak that is turning vampires into the undead undead or something… honestly, I haven’t kept track of the plot since season three. Still, I’m gonna miss Paquin and her female costars frivolous nude scenes and Lafayette’s quips.
