Monica Keena (“Dawson’s Creek”) stars in Image Entertainment’s Aftermath. Playing selected theaters and on VOD July 18, the Peter Engert-directed zombie thriller follows nine apocalypse survivors forced to live in a farmhouse cellar to see what happens when people stop being polite and start getting eaten.
Written by a guy named Christian McDonald, Aftermath co-stars Andre Royo (“The Wire”), C.J. Thomason (Husk), and the Eric Roberts of his generation Edward Fulong (Terminator 2: Judgement Day).
Fright fans will recognize Keena from her roles in 2009’s Night of the Demon’s remake, Freddy Vs. Jason, Remnants, and Snow White: A Tale of Terror, her horror movie debut. She also stars as Charles Manson groupie Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme in the upcoming biopic Manson Girls.
Open Road has released a trailer for Eli Roth’s new cannibal frightener The Green Inferno. The film, written by Roth and his Aftershockcollaborator Guillermo Amoedo, marks Roth’s return to directing since 2007’s Hostel 2.
Shot on location in the rainforests of Peru, The Green Inferno stars Chilean hottie Lorenza Izzo (Aftershock), Ariel Levy (Aftershock), Daryl Sabara (Spy Kids), Magda Apanowicz (Snowmaggedon), pop singer Sky Ferreria and stunner Kirby Bliss Blanton (Project X).
The story follows a group of student activists from New York taken in the Amazon by the endangered tribe of cannibals they had set out to rescue (stupid hippies!). The GreenInferno arrives in theaters on Sept. 15.
Briana Evigan (Sorority Row) stars in stuntman-turned-director Marty Murray’s feature film debut Paranormal Island. She is part of a cast that includes horror icon Lance Henriksen (Aliens), and stunners Sarah Karges (The Artist) and Ashley Lobo (Dilemma).
Written by Murray, Paranormal Island follows three college kids as they discover that the 100-year-old island resort they’ve taken bartending gigs at is haunted by the spirit of its original caretaker. No word what role Evigan plays, but here’s hoping it’s bikini-clad.
Evigan is coming off Darren Lynn Bousman’s horror musical The Devil’s Carnival and his remake of the 1980 Troma Entertainment’s rape/revenge thriller Mother’s Day. She can also be seen in screenwriter W. Peter Iliff’s (Point Break, Patriot Games) directorial debut Rites of Passage.
NBC has released a full-length trailer for “Rosemary’s Baby,” a four-hour event miniseries based on the 1967 Ira Levin horror novel about a young expectant mother who suspects her husband and new apartment neighbors are plotting to abduct and sacrifice her baby to Satan.
Agnieszka Holland (The Secret Garden) directs the series from a script by Scott Abbott (Queen of the Damned) and genre hero James Wong (Final Destination). Zoe Saldana (Star Trek) toplines the show as Rosemary Woodhouse.
Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skinis now in theaters. The sci-fi drama isan adaptation of Michel Faber’s debut novel of the same name about an alien disguised as a big-breasted woman out to seduce and trap the men of earth as food for her species.
Scarlett Johansson goes totally nude as the voracious and busty alien. Is that enough to get you in the seats? You bet! But, don’t feel bad. The film is an arthouse darling, which means you can feel smart despite any accidents you may have in your pants.

Nina Dobrev (“Vampire Diaries”) is set join Malin Akerman (Watchmen) and Taissa Farmiga (“American Horror Story”) in Groundswell Productions’ The Final Girls. Set in Louisiana, the horror-comedy is directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) and distributed by Sony Pictures.
The Final Girls centers on the daughter (Farmiga) of a recently deceased 80’s scream queen (Akerman) who gets trapped in her mom’s most famous film and must help her fight its killer. Dobrev plays the daughter’s ex-best friend.
In addition to her ongoing role on The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” Dobrev has starred in a string of notable frighteners, including the horror-musical Repo! The Genetic Opera, the lesbian-thriller Chloe, sword-and-sandal actioner Arena, and the psycho-bitch thrillerThe Roommate.

Indigenous: Chupacabra tells the story of five American friends in Panama who foolishly follow a local woman into the jungle to find waterfalls. What they discover instead is one of folklore’s most feared cryptids: the Chupacabra. It premieres at the Midnight section of this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.
“My Name is Earl” stunner Nadine Velazquez is set to star in Crawlspace, a new supernatural frightener from director Phil Claydon (Vampire Killers) and screenwriter Gary Dauberman (Swamp Devil). Velazquez joins Michael Vartan (“Alias”), Blake Jenner (“Glee”), and Erin Moriarty (“True Detective”).
Crawlspace tells the story of a family tormented by supernatural forces upon moving into a new house. Velazquez plays Vartan’s second wife and Moriarty’s MILFY stepmother.
Velazquez made her horror movie debut in 2005’s House of the Dead 2. She currently stars on TNT’s cop drama “Major Crimes.” She is best known for being the color of pancakes on “My Name is Earl,” playing trophy-wife Sofia on “The League,” and a heartstopping full-frontal nude scene in Flight.
Fox Searchlight has released a trailer for Another Earth director Mike Cahill’s new sci-fi drama I Origins, in theaters July 18. The film stars “Boardwalk Empire’s” Michael Pitt and Pirates of the Caribbean alumna Astrid Bergès-Frisbey (pictured).
I Origins follows a molecular biologist (Pitt) and his lab assistant (Brit Marling) as they uncover “startling evidence that may fundamentally change society as we know it.” From the looks of the smarty-farty trailer, that evidence has nothing to do with giant mutated underground-dwelling cockroaches. Bummer.
All’s not lost though. It’s great to see Astrid Bergès-Frisbey back on the big screen. The French/Spanish stunner first made waves in the U.S. in 2010 when her natural breasts landed her the role of mermaid Syrena in the Disney Pictures’ blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
