Will ‘Kick Ass 2’ Live Up to the Original? Peep the Comic-Con Trailer!

Kick_Ass_2

Universal Pictures premiered today at Comic-Con a new extended red band trailer for Kick Ass 2, the Jeff Wadlow-directed sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s 2010 original about misfit costumed crime fighters with no special powers.

Reprising their Kick Ass roles in the sequel are Chloe Grace Moretz as Hit Girl, Clark Duke as Marty/Battle Guy, Christopher Mintz-Plasse s Red Mist/Mother Fucker and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kick Ass.

New faces include Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes, John Leguizamo (The Happening) as Javier, Donald Faison (“Scrubs”) as Dr. Gravity, Morris Chestnut (The Call) as Sergeant Marcus Williams, Russian bodybuilder Olga Kurkulina as Mother Russia and sexy redhead Lindy Booth (Wrong Turn) as Night Bitch.

I’m rooting for this sequel, but the extended trailer makes Vaughn’s absence behind the camera pretty notable.

Action star and former MMA fighter Gina Carano is teaming up with “Avengelyne” creator Rob Liefeld to produce a film adaptation of the 1995 comic for Carano to topline as the fallen angel cast to battle demons on earth as punishment for questioning God’s love of humans and because he’s kind of a stinker that way.

The 2013 Emmy nominations were announced this morning and surprisingly did not completely suck donkey dicks for horror. While “The Walking Dead” was inexplicably snubbed, Ryan Murphy’s FX series “American Horror Story: Asylum” and HBO’s “Game of Thrones” got some proper recognition.

AMC’s “Bates Motel” also scored a very much deserved nom for Vera Farmiga in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Norma Bates, mom to serial killer in-the-making Norman Bates, played by Freddie Highmore, who also should have been up for an award.

Frankie Muniz’s Career Falls Victim to Syfy Movie, Maggie Castle Co-Stars!

Frankie-Muniz-and-Maggie-Castle-Blast-Vegas

It’s always sad to see one-time successful child actors grow up to become either drug-riddled (Lindsay Lohan) or dead degenerates (that Boner kid from “Growing Pains”). But, nothing is more heartbreaking than watching their souls die slowly in a Syfy movie.

“Malcolm in the Middle” star Frankie Muniz is the latest to suffer this dreadful fate, toplining the network’s Blast Vegas as one in a group of friends who steals an ancient Egyptian artifact from a casino, unleashing a deadly curse on Sin City.

Fortunately for those who can’t bring themselves to watch Cody Banks’ Syfy fate , Blast Vegas co-stars Canadian cutie Maggie Castle, recent star of Fearnet’s Todd and the Book of Pure Evil. The film premieres Thursday after a re-airing of Syfy’s monster-hit Sharknado.

All ribbing aside, this does look like a blast. Peep the pics:
