Universal has released the first red-band trailer for Kick Ass 2, the unlikely sequel to Matthew Vaughn’s 2010 original about costumed crime fighters with no special powers. Jeff Wadlow (Cry Wolf) directs the film, which is slated for theatrical release Aug. 16.

Reprising their Kick Ass roles in the sequel are Chloe Grace Moretz as Hit Girl, Clark Duke as Marty/Battle Guy, Christopher Mintz-Plasse s Red Mist/Mother Fucker and the very hot Lyndsy Fonseca as Kick Ass’ sweetheart Katie Deauxma and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kick Ass.

New faces include Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes, John Leguizamo (The Happening) as Javier, Donald Faison (”Scrubs”) as Dr. Gravity, Morris Chestnut (The Call) as Sergeant Marcus Williams, Russian bodybuilder Olga Kurkulina as Mother Russia and sexy redhead Lindy Booth (Wrong Turn) as Night Bitch.

Production has wrapped on writer and director David Hewlett’s Debug, a sci-fi thriller set in space that pits a group of hackers against the artificial intelligence program of a derelict freighter ship. The film stars “Game of Thrones” alum Jason Momoa and “Alcatraz” recurring Jeananne Goossen (pictured).

The synopsis reads:

Deep space. Six young hackers on a grueling work release program attempt to clear out – debug – the computer systems of a massive derelict space freighter.

They quickly fall prey to the ship’s vengeful artificial intelligence, a program that would kill to be human.

As the fractious team is forced to match wits with this rogue program, they discover that the ship holds a deadly secret, and a fate far worse than death.

Debug co-stars Adam Butcher (Wolves), Kjartan Hewitt (Scott Pilgrim vs the World), Sidney Leeder (Goon), Jaydn Wong (Cosmopolis), Adrian Holmes (Red Riding Hood) and Kyle Mac (Carrie). Entertainment One has acquired Canadian distribution rights.

In addition to “Alcatraz,” Goossen briefly starred in Kevin Williamson’s new FOX serial killer drama “The Following,” starring Kevin Bacon as a former FBI agent attempting to catch a murderous cult leader and his network of killers. She was replaced by “Person of Interest” and “Law and Order” starlet Annie Parisse.

“Stargate Universe” stunner Julia Benson rides alongside “CHiPs” star Erik Estrada in ARO Entertainment’s new Syfy Original Movie Chupacabra vs. The Alamo. Set to premiere on March 23, the film finds the duo facing off against Latin America’s most feared cryptid.

Chupacabras are invading San Antonio and DEA agent Carlos (Estrada) is out to stop the bloodsucking beasts with the aid of an outlaw motorcycle gang. The battle grows brutal and soon its human survivors are forced to make a last stand at the famed Alamo.

Benson is best known for her role as 2nd Lt. Vanessa James on the Syfy series “Stargate Universe.” The top-heavy Canadian starlet can also be seen in the 2007 “Masters of Horror” episode “Right to Die,” in which she goes nude… you’re welcome.

Image Entertainment has acquired the U.S. rights to Evidence, a found-footage frightener starring Radha Mitchell and Stephen Moyer as police detectives attempting to put together a portrait of a mass murderer by utilizing his victims’ camcorders, flip cams, and smart-phones.

Set in desert outside of Los Angeles, Evidence is directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi’s (The 4th Kind) and written by newcomer John Swetnam. Co-stars include Torrey Devitto (”Pretty Little Liars”), Harry Lennix (“Dollhouse”), Caitlin Stasey (Tomorrow, When the War Began) and Nolan Gerard Funk (Deadgirl).

Mitchell is coming off the Silent Hill sequel Revelations. Notable creds include the sci-fi actioners Pitch Black and Surrogates, Greg Mclean’s giant-croc thriller Rogue and 2010’s remake of George Romero’s classic viral outbreak thriller The Crazies. She currently stars on ABC’s mob-drama “Red Widow.”

Moyer, who returns this year as vampire Bill Compton on season six of HBO’s “True Blood,” recently starred in Darren Lynn Bousman’s The Barrens, an ode to the Jersey Devil legend. Previous creds include the apocalyptic actioner Priest, the supernatural thriller The Caller and the home invasion flicks Restraint and Open House.

Evidence is slated for summer release.

RADiUS-TWC, a digital division of The Weinstein Company, has acquired the U.S. rights to Warm Bodies director Jonathan Levine’s feature film debut All the Boys Love Mandy Lane. The film, which stars Amber Heard in the titular role, had been stuck in distribution limbo for seven-years.

Levine said in a press release:

I am thrilled that Mandy Lane has been rescued and is back where it belongs with Harvey and Bob.  Hard to believe it’s been seven years, but then again I’ve always perceived myself as a misunderstood artist who was light years ahead of his time, so I am thrilled the world has finally caught up.

Seriously, I am incredibly proud of the film and of the hard work that my cast and collaborators put into it, and I am so happy the world will finally get a chance to see it.

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane tells the story of a wholesome high school plain-Jane (Heard) who grows into her looks over the summer and becomes the “object of everyone’s affections.” Things get crazy when she attends a weekend party at a secluded ranch where someone is killing off the student body one at a time.

All the boys who would love to see Heard nude in the flick won’t get their wish, but will be pleased to know that stunner  Whitney Able—the female lead in Magnet Releasing’s critically acclaimed 2010 frightener Monsters—totally does (she’s the blonde in the clip below).

RADiUS-TWC will release the film on multiple platforms this summer.

Vergara’s boobs don’t need to shoot ammunition to bring a man down to his knees, but the image is striking and exactly what one would expect from the guy who replaced Rose McGowen’s leg with a machine gun in Planet Terror.

Machete Kills finds the ex-federale (Danny Trejo) recruited by the U.S. government to take down Mexico’s biggest drug cartel leader (Demián Bichir). Set to open on Sept. 13, the film co-stars Mel Gibson as an eccentric billionaire, Charlie Sheen as the U.S. President, Michelle Rodriguez as rebel leader Shé, Jessica Alba as ICE agent Sartana Rivera and Alexa Vega as hit-woman KillJoy.

Aussie stunner Melissa George is set to star in the upcoming ABC pilot “Gothica.” She joins co-stars Janet Montgomery (Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead), Emma Booth (Blood Creek), Tom Ellis (“Miranda”) and Chris Egan (Resident Evil: Extinction).

“Gothica,” a modern day re-imagining of the lives of horror icons, stars Montgomery as Grace Van Helsing, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist from New York who takes over her family’s small town newspaper. Additional residents include Dorian Grey (Egan) and Frankenstein (Ellis).

George is coming off the A&E small-screen adaptation of the Stephen King bestseller “Bag of Bones.” She made her acting and nude debuts in New Line Cinema’s 1998 sci-fi mind-bender Dark City. Her first starring role came in 2005 in the Platinum Dunes remake of The Amityville Horror.

Additional creds include David Slade’s 30 Days of Night, John Stockwell’s Turistas, Christopher Smith’s acclaimed time-loop thriller Triangle and Julian Gilbey’s survival frightener A Lonely Place to Die.

Keri Russell (“Felicity”) will play the female lead in Twentieth Century Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, a sequel to its 2011 blockbuster Rise of the Planet of the Apes. She joins co-stars Gary Oldman (Dark Knight), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), Kodi-Smit McPhee (Let Me In) and Andy Serkis (The Hobbit).

Directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and co-written by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is a post apocalyptic story set a decade after the director Rupert Wyatt’s 2011 reboot. Details about Russell’s role in the film are mum, Variety reports.

Russell can currently be seen on the FX spy series “The Americans” and Blumhouse Productions’ exceptionally creepy alien thriller Dark Skies.

Russell also starred in the gay cannibal drama Grimm Love, based on the true story of Armin Meiwes, a German homosexual man sentenced to life imprisonment after slaughtering and eating Bernd-Jürgen Brandes, a willing victim he met in an internet chatroom.

Lionsgate has released a red-band trailer for director Paul Middleditch’s end-of-days comedy Rapturepalooza. The very pretty Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) and an all-growns-up John Francis Daley (“Freaks and Geeks”) star as a couple left behind to battle the devil after the Rapture hits.

Rapturepalooza co-stars Rob Corddry (Warm Bodies), Thomas Lennon (“Reno 911”), Ana Gasteyer (“Suburgatory”), Paul Sheer (Piranha 3DD), Ken Jeong (Hangover) and Craig Robinson (Hot Tub Time Machine) as Beelzebub.

The film premieres in selected theaters and VOD on May 10.
