Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski’s Oblivion, a Wall-E like sci-fi thriller set in a future where people live in cloud cities above the earth, which remains uninhabitable after decades of war against extraterrestrial beings called Scavs.
Tom Cruise stars as Jack Harper, a repairman taxed with fixing the drones that collect resources from the earth and keep the Scavs at bay. Bond Girl Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) is a beautiful stranger who crash lands on the planet and changes Harper’s outlook on humanity with her vagina… OK, I’m guessing that part.
Oblivion opens in IMAX on April 12 and in conventional theaters on April 19.
Magnet Releasing has set a Feb. 8 limited theatrical release date for Chinese director Ching Siu-Tung’s The Sorcerer and the White Snake, an adaptation of an ancient Chinese legend that asks the age-old question: could you love a girl who is literally a cold blooded reptile?
Before you answer, make sure to check out the 1:37 mark on the trailer.
The Sorcerer and the White Snake stars martial arts actor Jet Li as the hero and Shengyi Huang as the White Snake. Costars include Charlene Choi as the Green Snake and Vivian Hsu as a snow goblin… what’s going on with the women in China???
MVD Entertainment has picked up the U.S. distribution rights to Film Koncept Scandinavia’s long-delayed slasher Mara, starring Swedish nude glamor model Angelica Jansson and a supporting cast of equally hot naked Swedish chicks.
Mara tells the tale of Jenny, a large-breasted woman who returns to the cabin in the woods where as a child she witnessed and survived a brutal murder. Hoping to find closure, she plans to spend the weekend at the cabin exchanging Swedish massages with her girlfriends.
Things go terribly wrong when an intruder arrives at the cabin and appears to have no interest in raiding their panty drawer nor drilling peep holes in the shower. Mara is slated for release in the spring. To see a little more of Jansson, go here.
The CW has set a Feb. 19 premiere date for “Cult,” its new series about an underground television show hosted by a charismatic sociopath with powerful influence over his viewership. Alien Nation and “Farscape” writer Rockne S. O’Bannon created the show with “Chuck” and “Gossip Girl” creator Josh Schwartz.
“Cult” follows journalist Jeff Sefton (Matthew Davis) and research assistant Skye (Jessica Lucas) as they investigates cult leader Billy Grimm (Robert Knepper) in the hopes of discovering what has happened to Jeff’s missing brother Nate.
Alona Tal (pictured above) costars in the series as someone named Kelly Collins. Horror fans will recognize the 29-year-old stunner from IFC Midnight’s immigration thriller Undocumented and her recurring roles on The CW’s “Supernatural” and “Veronica Mars.”
Paramount Pictures has released a string of trailers for producer/director J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness, the eagerly anticipated sequel to the 2009 reboot. The Japanese trailer features an additional 15-seconds of footage because Abrams hates America.
But, don’t worry. I smuggled it onto Clatto for you.
MVD has set a Feb. 19 release date for Wrong Turn director Rob Schmidt’s (credited here as Lulu Jarmen) long-delayed outbreak frightener Bad Meat. The film stars “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” star Elisabeth Harnois and “Scrubs” funny-man Dave Franco.
Bad Meat finds a group of juvenile delinquents trying to protect themselves after being exposed to a deadly virus while attending court-appointed rehab. Costars include “Secret Circle” stunner Jessica Parker-Kennedy and “LOST” alum Mark Pellegrino.
A&E has released a string of new images from its upcoming new drama “Bates Motel,” a prequel series to Hitchcock’s Psycho from Carlton Cuse (“LOST”) and Kerry Ehrin (”Friday Night Lights”). The shots, along with other cool tidbits, can be seen on show’s website.
“Bates Motel” follows Norman from childhood through adolescence and examines how his twisted relationship with his overbearing mother shaped him into a psycho killer. The series stars Freddie Highmore (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) as Norman and Vera Farmiga (Source Code) as his MILFY mother Norma Louise.
Costars include Nicola Peltz as Norman’s love interest Bradley Martin, Olivia Cook as his nerdy friend Emma Decody and Keegan Connor Tracy as his teacher and adviser Miss Watson. They’re joined by Max Thieriot as Norman’s half-brother Dylan Massett, Nestor Carbonell as sheriff Royce Romero and Mike Vogel as Deputy Zack Shelby.
My nose would grow if I said I wasn’t looking forward to meeting Geppetto, the sadistic serial killer that makes living marionettes out of the women he abducts in Anthony DiBlasi’s (Dread) gory new frightener Cassadaga, releasing next year from Archstone Distribution.
Cassadaga stars Kelen Coleman (“The Newsroom”) as a woman who is taken while she mourns the sudden death of her sister. Costars include Louise Fletcher (“Shameless”), Rus Blackwell (Monster), Hank Stone (The Punisher), J LaRose (SAW 2), Amy LoCicero (The Summoning) and Kevin Alejandro (“True Blood”).
If you need a reason to see Full Moon Features’ Ooga Booga, porn star Siri has got 32 of them… 32-HHs! In a welcomed departure from her X-rated roles in movies such as Big Titty Lesbians and a Top Heavy Tarts, the naturally busty 24-year-old plays a character named The Skank.
Ooga Booga tells the story of Devin, a black med-school student whose soul is trapped in a Ooga Booga doll after he is murdered by racist police officers. With his trusty tribal spear in hand and the support of his loving girlfriend Donna, Devin sets out to kill the crooked cops that fucked up his life.
Ooga Booga is directed by Charles Band (The Dead Want Women) and stars Chance Rearden (Zombies vs. Strippers), Ciarra Carter (Redemption of a Dog) and genre queen Karen Black (House of a 1000 Corpses). The film is slated for release in Feb.
A South African ad agency has released a calender of bikini-clad, living-dead girls to promote AMC’s runaway hit series “The Walking Dead.” Gore geeks won’t find much satisfaction in the calender as its models look less like zombies and more like AIDS victims (come to think of it; how do we know this isn’t just another swimsuit shoot in South Africa), but for those of us who dream of a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit zombie apocalypse, this is a good start.
