Columbia Pictures has released the first official trailer for producer/director Barry Sonnenfeld’s Men in Black 3. The sequel finds Will Smith’s Agent J heading back in time to save Tommy Lee Jones’ Agent K from an awful fate with the help of his younger self, played by Josh Brolin.
Men in Black 3 costars Emma Thompson, Rip Torn, Johnny Knoxville, Jemaine Clement, and Alice Eve, who regrettably is not seen in the trailer. Pussycat Doll and “X-Factor” judge Nicole Scherzinger also makes an appearance in the film during the opening sequence.
U.K. distribution house Entertainment Film Distributors has unleashed a two-minute-plus trailer for Westend Films’ upcoming horror sex-comedy Love Bite. The film follows four high school clowns as they attempt to survive a werewolf with an appetite for small town virgins.
Love Bite is directed by some guy named Andy De Emmony and stars “Gossip Girl” and Piranha 3-D starlet Jessica Szohr as a mysterious American traveler. Costars include Luke Pasqualino (The Apparition) and Ed Speleers (A Lonely Place to Die).
Szohr looks amazing, but be warned: the movie is ridiculously foreign. Expect plenty of male nudity and questionable male-bonding shenanigans. Talk to your penis before viewing.
Model-turned-actress-turned-drunken-cop-beater-and-escape-artist Estella Warren is bottling up her crazy to use in Danish writer/director Adam Neutzsky-Wulff’s new psych-thriller The Stranger Inside, currently shooting on the isle of Mallorca, Spain.
The 32-year-old Canadian stunner plays a psychotic actress tormented by a mysterious traveler (I Spit On Your Grave’sSarah Butler) while vacationing in the Mediterranean with her psychiatrist husband (William Baldwin). Costars include Jeffrey Pierce (“Alcatraz”) and Katia Winter (Arena).
Warren, best known for costarring in Tim Burton’s 2001 Planet of the Apes remake, will next be seen as Catherine “Gypsy” Share in director Susanna Lo’s Manson Girls, a gritty bio-pic that follows the lives of eight female Charles Manson cult members up until the notorious Tate/ LaBianca murders.
America Olivo (Bitch Slap) is joining the Alexandre Aja-produced remake of the gory 1980 slasher Maniac. Directed by Franck Khalfoun (P2), the redo stars Elijah Wood as Frank Zito, a sadistic killer haunted by hallucinations of his abusive mother who seeks women online to murder and scalp.
Olivo will have the fucked-up honor of playing Zito’s milfy mom. The film, currently shooting in Los Angeles, also stars French actress Nora Arnezeder (Safe House) as Zito’s girlfriend Anna and some people named Sal Landi, Dan Hunter, Steffinnie Phrommany and Morgane Slemp.
Olivo, who made her horror debut in Platinum Dunes’ Friday the 13th remake, will next be seen in WWE Studios’ No One Lives and Indican Pictures’ serial-killer drama Circle. Previous creds include Rick Jacobson’s (“Spartacus: Blood and Sand”) Bitch Slap and the Lionsgate thrillers Last Resort and Neighbor.
Tony and Ridley Scott are set to produce an A&E miniseries remake of Michael Crichton’s 1978 organ-harvesting thriller Coma. Adapted by Black Swan co-writer John J. McLaughlin, the story follows a young doctor as she discovers why patients are going brain dead during routine surgeries.
“Six Feet Under” star Lauren Ambrose (pictured above) and “Rescue Me’s” Steven Pasquale are toplining the two-night, four-hour miniseries, which is set to shoot in Atlanta. Costars include James Woods (Straw Dogs), Richard Dreyfuss (Piranha 3-D), Geena Davis (Beetlejuice), Ellen Burstyn (The Exorcist), James Rebhorn (Real Steel) and Joe Morton (“Eureka”).
The MGM original starred Michael Douglas, Genevieve Bujold, Richard Widmark and Rip Torn. It is based on author Robin Cook’s 1977 bestselling debut novel.
It’s been awhile since American audiences caught an eyeful of Japanese starlet Rinko Kikuchi. But, that’s all about to change. Along with upcoming roles in the Keanu Reeves samurai-actioner 47 Ronin and Guillermo del Toro’s mecha-influenced Pacific Rim, Kikuchi has gone nude for the Pirelli 2012 calender.
The calender, which features actresses and models in various stages of undress, is not available for purchase and is only sent by the Pirelli tire company to auto industry big-wigs and customers. I ride a bicycle so I had to go here to get a glimpse at Kikuchi’s kikuchi. The calender also includes full-frontal nudes of Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich.
Kikuchi is best known for her Oscar nominated performance as a nude troubled teen in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s Babel.
A trailer for the Luc Besson-produced sci-fi actioner Lockout is garnering positive buzz for first-time feature directors James Mather and Stephen St. Leger. The film Guy Pearce as a convicted U.S. government agent sent to rescue the president’s daughter from a space prison riot in exchange for his freedom.
The trailer serves as an introduction to Pearce’s character, an antihero with a surly sense of humor (think Escape from New York’s Snake Plissken and “LOST’s” James “Sawyer” Ford). The film, written by Besson with Mather, arrives in U.S. theaters on April 20, 2012.
British actress Sienna Miller (G.I. Joe) is set to portray Tippi Hedren in the BBC2 network’s Alfred Hitchcock-based tele-pic The Girl. Directed by Julian Jarrold from a script by Gwyneth Hughes, the film examines the iconic filmmaker’s obsessive relationship with Hedren after picking her from obscurity to star in his 1963 classic The Birds.
According to Hughes’ research, which includes interviews with a now 81-year-old Hedren and surviving members of Hitchcock’s film crews, Hitchcock grew obsessed with the alluring blonde starlet—then an aspiring fashion model—while taking her under his wing during the making of The Birds and Marnie.
Says Hughes:
It’s been the most enormous privilege to talk at length to Tippi Hedren, the last ‘Hitchcock blonde’ in the life of Britain’s most original and successful film director.
At the time, in the early 1960s, the American star suffered in silence. But now, at the age of 81, her wisdom and insights have helped me to put her real life ordeal on to the screen.
Hedren, who refused to work with Hitchcock after Marnie, was kept under contract by the director and forced to pass on other projects up until he finally sold her contract to Universal Pictures some two years later. Hedren has often said that Hitchcock ruined her career.
The Girl stars character actor Toby Jones (The Hunger Games) as Hitchcock, Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) as his wife Alma Hitchcock and Penelope Wilton (Shaun of the Dead) as his assistant Peggy Robertson. Hitchcock biographer Donald Spoto serves as consultant on the project.
You’ve seen mutant sharks (Sharktopus). You’ve seen sharks that swim in sand (Sand Sharks). You’ve even gotten a look at a flying shark (Super Shark). But, not since Jaws has a shark movie been able to tap into our deepest fears of being eaten alive by an apex predator of the sea.
Until now.
Woodhead Entertainment reclaims the shark genre with Shark Pool, an all-to-real tale about what could happen if a shark was in your pool, but the weather was just too hot not to go in. Yes, it’s a parody-trailer poking fun at Shark Night 3-D, but that doesn’t make it any less frightening.
Lionsgate has released the first official trailer for writer/producer Joss Whedon’s eagerly anticipated and long-delayed Cabin in the Woods. The film marks the directorial debut of Cloverfield scribe Drew Goddard and centers on a mysterious cabin used by a clandestine organization to torment and murder young outdoors enthusiasts.
Peep it:
I gotta say it kinda has a vibe that reminds me of Vincenzo Natali’sCube … which was fucking awesome and will be hard to top—although, having a cute chick bump-and-grind by a fireplace and make out with a mounted wolf head is a good start.
Cabin in the Woods stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Richard Jenkins (Let Me In), Jesse Williams (“Grey’s Anatomy”), Fran Kranz (“Dollhouse”), Brian White (The Shield”), Bradley Whitford (Robocop 3) and hotties Kristen Connolly (“As the World Turns”) and Anna Hutchison (“Power Rangers”).
