Anchor Bay Entertainment has released two preview clips to promote the upcoming DVD/Blu-ray release of director Michael Feifer’s low-budget thriller Abandoned, available Aug. 24. The film marks the final performance of late actress Brittany Murphy, who met her unfortunate demise last Christmas at the age of 32.

Abandoned stars Murphy as a woman frantically trying to find her boyfriend after he disappears from a hospital during a routine procedure. The film costars Dean Cain (”Lois & Clark”), Kristen Kerr (Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane), and busty straight-to-DVD queen Mimi Rogers (Penny Dreadful).

Murphy’s genre creds include last year’s Deadline opposite Thora Birch, Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City, the Michael Douglas vehicle Don’t Say a Word, The Prophecy 2 with the great Christopher Walken, and the-yet-to-be-released Something Wicked.

Prepare to Visit a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Disney Revamps ‘Star Tours’ Attraction!

sw2

Planning next year’s summer vacation? Why not save up your druggats and book a Star Tours Getaway Package at Disneyland and Disney World! The happiest place on earth has joined forces with Lucasfilms to revamp the theme parks’ Star Tours attraction, first introduced in 1987 as part of Tomorrowland.

A commercial for the upcoming Star Tours: the Adventures Continue was premiered at the Star Wars Celebration V convention this week in Orlando, Florida. The promo teases trips to Bespin’s Cloud City, the forest moon of Endor, and Princess Leia’s home planet of Alderaan, voted the safest place in the galaxy.

Take a look:

The new Star Tours attraction will feature a variety of updated visual effects and be presented in 3-D much like the recently unveiled King Kong ride at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Of course, before booking any trip to the Star Wars galaxy, it’s highly recommended that one take the time to check the weather conditions on any given planet. To do so, go here.

void

IFC Films has released the first official trailer to French director Gasper Noe’s techno-ghost-story Enter the Void. The film marks Noe’s return behind the camera since directing Spanish actress Monica Bellucci in Irreversible, arguably the best piece of ass-rape cinema ever.

The film stars Nathanial Brown and Paz de la Huerta as siblings left to look out for each other after the murder of their parents. While there isn’t a hint of sodomy in the trailer, there are slutty strippers and strobe lights!

Take a look:

The film’s official synopsis reads:

In ENTER THE VOID, a young man desperately tries to be the guardian for his younger sister after the murder of their parents, but he soon realizes that he is dying. This ambitious drama from Gaspar Noe (IRREVERSIBLE) goes beyond simply showing the waking mind of its hero; instead, the audience gets a glimpse of his dreams and his near-death experiences.

I’m not sure how I feel about Noe’s return to filmmaking. While I’m curious to see how he follows up Bellucci’s 9-minute butt-rape-on-a-subway-tunnel-floor in Irreversible, I can’t help but think he should have retired his camera, fulfilled by the knowledge that he shot the Citizen Kane of nude scenes eight years ago.

Kelly Brook Makes Nude Playboy Debut!

Kelly_Play

British model/actress Kelly Brook will soon be showing off her shepherd’s pie in the September issue of Playboy magazine, available Aug. 16. The 30-year-old starlet is featured on the cover (pictured above) and in an eight-page nude pictorial.

Brook tells Playboy:

I was a little self-conscious about the shoot because I look at the other girls in the magazine and they’re just so perfect. I’m not 20 anymore – my boobs are real, and they even hang a little.

To celebrate her Playboy debut, Brook let it all hang out at a lingerie party thrown in her honor at the Playboy mansion (photos of her on the way to shindig can be seen below).

Brook and her 32-E’s can also be seen swimming nude with porn star Riley Steele in Dimension Films’ summer frightener Piranha 3-D, in theaters Aug. 20.

Scott Bakula Jumps the Gun, Announces ‘Quantum Leap’ Movie Plans!

Quantum_Leap

Life just got a little less ka-ka for fans of NBC’s long-departed time-travel series “Quantum Leap.” During the show’s retrospective panel at this year’s Comic-Con, series star Scott Bakula announced that creator Donald P. Bellisario is working on getting a “Quantum Leap” movie off the ground.

Sadly, Bakula also revealed that his and costar Dean Stockwell’s respective roles as Dr. Sam Beckett and Rear Admiral Al Calavicci will most likely be recast for the update … Oh, boy.

Bakula explains:

The good news is that Don is working on the film script and has a big time Hollywood producer who wants to do it … It’s about time. Dean and I will have a part in it somehow.

Don did say that as he was writing, he told me he was having trouble, ‘getting you and Dean out of my head.’ But I know he will do it.

From 1989 to 1993, Dr. Sam Beckett (Bakula) attempted to find his way home after a time travel experiment left him lost in the past, leaping into people’s bodies at various points in history to “put right what once went wrong” in their lives. Beckett never made it home.

As a “Quantum Leap” die-hard, I think it’d be far more interesting to catch up with an older Sam Beckett and see the effects that time travel has had on him physically and emotionally. And, Al’s a hologram! Use some of that Tron: Legacy magic to keep him looking like back-in-the-day.

Ah, who am I kidding? I’m sure Taylor Lautner’s phone is already lighting up.

Bakula and Stockwell both picked up Golden Globes awards for their performances during the show’s run.

skyline

“The Vampire Diaries” took a big bite out of the 11th Annual Teen Choice Hormone Awards held at the Gibson Amphitheater on Sunday in Los Angeles. The show, which returns for its second season on Sept. 9, was awarded seven surfboards (apparently teens surf? I thought their activities were limited to texting, popping zits, and texting?) at the star-studded shindig.

Along with wins for Choice Breakout Show and Choice Fantasy/Sci-fi, “The Vampire Diaries” scored nods for all three of its leads: Ian Somerhalder (Choice Villian), Nina Dobrev (Choice Breakout Star, Choice Sci-fi Actress), and the guy who isn’t Ian Somerhalder (Choice Breakout Star, Choice Sci-fi Actor).

As usual, the actors were on hand to receive their awards and suckle the collective clit of teen America with the utmost respect and humility their expensive beach house mortgages demand (I kid!). Afterward, Somerhalder and Dobrev ditched the guy who isn’t Ian Somerhalder and headed to LAX to catch a flight to their love nest (the two are rumored to be sucking more than necks these days).

Elsewhere, on the movie front, winners included Paranormal Activity (Choice Horror/Thriller), Avatar (Choice Sci-fi), and Twilight (Choice Everything Else).  Former teen heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio and current penis-throb starlet Zoe Saldana also took home surfboards for their respective performances in Shutter Island and Avatar.

Elvis Presley’s Granddaughter Riley Keough Rolls w/ ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’

rk

It’s now or never for Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough.

The 21-year-old fashion model/aspiring actress is looking to sashay her way into Hollywood with a role in George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road, the fourth installment in the franchise made famous by Oscar-winner and blow-job enthusiast Mel Gibson.

Heat Vision reports that Keough is in talks to star alongside Teresa Palmer, Zoe Kravitz (Lenny’s daughter) and Adelaide Clemens (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as a member of an endangered group of women known as the “Five Wives.” The film is said to pick up right after the anarchy of Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.

Keough made her feature film debut in this year’s rock-biopic The Runaways opposite Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart. She also landed a lead role in director Bradley Rust Gray’s outrageous teen-lesbo/werewolf mash-up Jack & Diane, costarring Juno Temple and pop singer Kylie Minogue.

Keough is the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley and failed musician Danny Keough.

Mad Max: Fury Road stars Charlize Theron (The Road), Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class), and 32-year-old Brit Tom Hardy (Inception) in the iconic role of “Mad” Max Rockatansky. The film goes into production early next year.

Cillian Murphy Is ‘Now’ Making Time with Amanda Seyfried!

GAS1013023_004

Cillian Murphy is in final talks to star alongside Amanda Seyfried and Justin Timberlake in director Andrew Niccol’s (Gattaca) new dystopian sci-fi thriller Now.

The film is set in a future where people physically stop aging by 25 and must then purchase time to determine life expectancy. Those with lots of money can live forever. Those without are shit out of luck.

Murphy is negotiations to play a Timekeeper agent on the trail of a fugitive (Timberlake) accused of murdering a wealthy man for his time. The film goes into production this year and will be distributed through 20th Century Fox.

Murphy recently replaced actor Jason Isaacs in Magnet Films’ upcoming viral-outbreak thriller Retreat. He can currently be seen in Chris Nolan’s sleeper hit—(see what I did there)—Inception.

Dude … Hurley’s on the New Weezer CD!

hurley-album-cover

Jorge Garcia, best known for his role as Hurley on ABC’s “LOST,” will be featured on the cover of rock-outfit Weezer’s eight studio album entitled … “Hurley.”

Dude.

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo tells Spinner:

We struggled super hard trying to come up with an album title, trying to find some kind of phrase that summed up the whole aesthetic behind the album: ‘Heavy Mental,’ ‘Smaller Than Life’. I was coming up with all kinds of stuff, but ultimately, we just went with some random word that doesn’t really have anything to do with anything.

I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia — it just had this amazing vibe. We didn’t want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as ‘the Hurley record’ even if left it without that title, so we just called it ‘Hurley.’ No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face.

Cuomo goes on to point out that none of the songs on the “Hurley” disc contain references to “LOST” and admits to still being stuck on season two of the Emmy-nominated sci-fi series.

WEEZER-Hurley

He says:

I only made it through season two, so I was really nervous hanging out with Hurley/Jorge recently, because I didn’t want to hear something about how it all resolves, or overhear anyone else talking about it. I really like the show though.

“Hurley” marks the band’s first release through indie label Epitaph Records (they were previously signed to Geffen Records/Interscope for 12 years). The CD arrives in stores on Sept. 14.

Garcia told TVGuide.com:

I’m excited to know that people in the music stores I used to work will soon be opening boxes full of my smiling face.

Garcia will also be seen as island protector in the eagerly anticipated 12-minute epilogue included in the “LOST” season six DVD/Blu-ray release, available Aug. 24.

“LOST” is nominated this year for 11 Emmys, including nods for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for lead Matthew Fox (Jack Shepard), and Outstanding Supporting Actor for both Michael Emerson (Benjamin Linus)and Terry o’Quinn (John Locke).

Hurley is featured on Clatto’s list of the 12 Heroes in Horror/Sci-Fi That Won’t Make You Feel Like an Asshole.
