Former Disney teenybopper AJ Michalka (High School Musical) has been cast in J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg’s hush-hush sci-fi collaboration Super 8. The 19-year-old starlet joins a cast headlined by Elle Fanning (Dakota’s sister) and Kyle Chandler (“Friday Night Lights”).

Super 8 is reportedly set in the ’70s or ’80s and centers on a group of kids who discover an alien creature in a frame of the super 8mm movie they are making. A teaser-trailer can be seen here.
Michalka’s last cinematic outing was in Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones.
Teri Hatcher will leap from Wisteria Lane to “Smallville” this fall when she guest stars on the show’s 10th and final season. The 45-year-old stunner will play Lois Lane’s mother in an episode entitled “Abandoned.”
Hatcher, who played Lois Lane on the 1993 ABC series “Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,” will be seen as the late Ella Lane in video footage found by “Smallville’s” own Lois, Erica Durance.
Hatcher, of course, is best known today for playing milfy ditz Suzanne Mayer on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives.” Her horror/sci-fi creds are limited, but include guest starring roles on episodes of “Star Trek: The Next Generation (“The Outrageous Okona”),” “Quantum Leap (“Star-Crossed”),” and “Tales from the Crypt (“The Thing from the Grave”).” She also lent her vocal talents to last year’s twisted animated frightener Coraline.
“Smallville’s” final season takes off tonight.
Looks like Lionsgate is finally getting around to creating some buzz for the final chapter in its record-breakingSaw franchise. The studio has released five new images from director Kevin Greutert’sSaw 3-D, in theaters Oct. 29.
The film is shot in authentic 3-D and stars series regulars Tobin Bell (John Kramer/Jigsaw), Costas Mandylor (Det. Hoffman), Betsy Russell (Jill Tuck), and Cary Elwes (Dr. Lawrence Gordon). New faces include Gina Holden (Final Destination 3), Sean Patrick Flanery (Mongolian Death Worm), Chad Donella (Final Destination), Dean Armstrong (Repo! The Genetic Opera), and the soon-to-be-announced winner of VH1’s “Scream Queens 2.”
The Los Angeles premiere of Warner Bros. Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole was held yesterday at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. Director Zach Snyder and Guardians of Ga’hoole author Kathryn Lasky were joined on the red carpet by cast members Jim Sturgess, Sam Neill, Ryan Kwanten, David Wenham, Joel Edgerton, and Anthony LaPaglia.
Also on hand for the festivities were Russell Brand minus Kathy Perry, Billy Bob Thorton with family, Scott Glenn, and Snyder’s Sucker Punch stars Vanessa Hudgens, Emily Browning, Jena Malone, Carla Gugino, and Jaime Chung.
Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole tells the story of a young orphaned barn owl named Soren (Sturgess) and his quest to escape a group of war-mongering owls by seeking refuge on the island of Ga’Hoole among wise and virtuous owls. The adaptation is based on the first three volumes in Lasky’s best-selling 14-book series: The Capture, The Journey, and The Rescue.
The film is Snyder’s first family-feature and is produced by Warner Bros./Village Roadhouse and Oscar-winning Australian animation house Animal Logic (Happy Feet). It arrives in theaters on Sept. 24.
Lauren McKnight reprises her role as Skye Rotter, daughter of teen slayer Charlie Rotter, in MTV’s upcoming sequel My Super Psycho Sweet 16: Part 2. Along with a bigger budget and more buckets of blood, the film features the 21-year-old starlet’s first ever sex scene.

It was originally supposed to be on the couch – because I’m having my 16th birthday party in this film – and Brigg and I are supposed to have sex on the couch. But they switched it to the pool table – that was awesome. I was nervous going into it.
There is so much blood in this film! I got sprayed with, like, 33 gallons in my face. It was so intense. My bra and underwear are still stained in blood. I don’t want to take them to the laundry mat to scare people. There is so much gore that they won’t be able to show on television, they definitely need to see the uncut version because it’s going to be intense.
My Super Psycho Sweet 16: Part 2 will also see the return of original players Julianna Guill, Chris Zylka, Bridget Nichols, Gina Rodriguez, Matt Angel, and director Jacob Gentry. Euro babe Barbara Nedeljakova is set to headline the latest entry in the unstoppable Children of the Corn home-video franchise. Directed by Joel Soisson (Pulse 3), Children of the Corn: The Dweller stars Nedeljakova as the mother of an evil “corn” kid who lures a stranded couple to her home.
Nedeljakova is best known for her performance as topless tourist trap Natalya in director Eli Roth’s superb frightener Hostel. The 31-year-old Slavic stunner studied acting in Prague and is a master puppeteer to boot! She has yet to get her acting break, but can be found in a few lad mags, including Maxim (pictured above).
Children of the Corn: The Dweller costars ugly-fuck Billy Drago, (The Hills Have Eyes), Kelen Coleman (Fired Up), and television actor Tim Rock. Production is currently underway in Louisiana.
“Spartacus: Blood and Sand” lead Andy Whitfield will not be back for a second season of Starz’ hit series. The 36-year-old actor’s ongoing battle with Stage 1 non-Hodgkin lymphoma has forced him to step down as the show’s titular hero and continue aggressive treatment.
Whitfield says (via press release):
It’s with a deep sense of disappointment that I must step aside from such an exceptional project as Spartacus and all the wonderful people involved. It seems that it is time for myself and my family to embark on another extraordinary journey. Thank you sincerely for the support so far.
“Spartacus: Blood and Sand” debuted in January to over a million viewers, making it the Starz network’s most watched program. A second season of the Sam Raimi-produced series had been slated to air in September 2011.
Says Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik:
Right now, we just want to extend our concern and support to Andy and his family. We will address our programming plans at some later date.
Plans to premiere a six-part prequel series “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena” in January remain on track. The new series follows the House of Batiatus as it struggles to make a name for itself. The show stars Australian actor Dustin Clare, “Dexter’s” Jaime Murray, and the very sexy Marisa Ramirez.
“Spartacus: Blood and Sand” regulars Lucy Lawless, John Hannah, Peter Mensah, and Manu Bennett reprise their roles for the series. No word if Whitfield will appear in any of the episodes as previously reported.
“Spartacus: Blood and Sand” arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on Sept. 21.
Sony Screen Gems has released the first official trailer for its upcoming super-sexy girl-on-girl thriller The Roommate. The filmis an update of the 1992 Bridgett Fonda thriller Single White Female and stars “Gossip Girl” Leighton Meester as an emotionally unstable college coed obsessed with her dorm-mate, played by “Friday Night Lights” regular Minka Kelly.

I gotta say, in a time when vampires and zombies rule the box office, it’s kind of cool to see an old-school thriller where the antagonist is flesh-and-blood. I, for one can identify with the horrors of sharing space with a stranger. In college, my roommate snaked my medicinal cocaine. I felt so violated and helpless.
Of course, the film’s lesbian overtones don’t hurt its appeal either. Neither does the promise of a kinky sex scene between Meester and Matt Lanter (Sorority Row).
The Roommate is directed by Christian E. Christiansen and costars Billy Zane (Dead Calm), Cam Gigandet (Twilight), Katerina Graham (“The Vampire Diaries”), Alyson Michalka (“Hellcats”), Lauren Storm (Whore), Danneel Harris (“One Tree Hill”), and Frances Fisher (“Eureka”).
New footage from Anchor Bay’s unrated remake of director Meir Zarchi’s highly controversial 1978 revenge-thriller I Spit On Your Grave has hit the web. Entitled “Pretty Little Thing,” the clip teases the gang-rape festivities at hand.

Directed by Steven R. Monroe, the I Spit On Your Grave remake stars newcomer Sarah Butler in the role of novelist Jennifer Hill, a gang-rape victim out to do terrible things to the penises of her assailants.
Produced by Hollywood husband-and-wife team John and Jennifer Kersey, Tarantula tells the story of a woman (Cummings) who breaks ties with a biker gang in the hopes of starting a new life. Things get complicated, however, when the gang’s leader (Trejo) tracks her down while looking for the peeps resonsible for his brother’s death.
The film is budgeted at $2.5 million and will be shot in Detroit this November.
Can’t wait to see Cummings again? “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” arrives on DVD and Blu-ray (with extended orgy scenes) on Sept. 21. The 24-year-old stunner can also be seen in Bitch Slap, Rick Jacobson’s ode to babes, bombs, and boobs.
