British starlet Alice Eve has been cast in director David Brooks’ upcoming feature film debut ATM. The 28-year-old stunner replaces Margarita Levieva (Knights of Badassdom) as the film’s female lead.
Written by Buried scribe Chris Sparling, ATM centers on three coworkers trapped in an ATM shack late at night by a maniacal stranger eager to withdraw blood from their heads. Like Buried, the majority of the film’s action occurs in a small confined space, namely the ATM enclosure.
Eve is best known for heart-wrenching Oscar-worthy topless scene in the Harrison Ford illegal-immigrant drama Crossing Over. She also starred as the only non-menopausal woman in Sex and the City 2 (not counting John Corbett). Her only horror cred is the Jay Baruchel vehicle She’s Out of My League.
Eve was reportedly set to star in director Mathew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class, but the role was given to “Mad Men’s” January Jones.
Milfy Brit Joely Richardson is set to star in director David Fincher’s American film adaptation of late Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s bestselling novel “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” She joins a cast that includes Daniel Craig (Casino Royal) as journalist Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara (A Nightmare on Elm Street) as disturbed hacker-punk Lisbeth Salander.
No word yet on what role Richardson will play. The 45-year-old looker made her name in the States as icy matriarch Julia McNamara on the outrageous F/X series “Nip/Tuck.” Her horror creds include 1996’s Loch Ness, the made-for-TV thriller Fatal Contact: Bird Flu in America, and director Paul W.S. Anderson’s classic sci-fi thriller Event Horizon.
If you can’t wait to see Fincher’s film and have lost your library card, you can catch the Swedish film adaptations of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire now. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest is slated for limited theatrical release in the U.S. on Oct. 29.
Anchor Bay Entertainment has made available a new red-band trailer to promote the unrated theatrical release of director Steven R. Monroe’s controversial I Spit On Your Graveremake. The clip features newcomer Sarah Butler doing all kinds of terrible things to various parts of the male anatomy. It’s really quite terrible, but there is an awesome shot of Butler’s ass cheeks that can’t be missed.

Thora Birch and her magnificent breasts are set to replace human drug Lindsay Lohan in Junction Films’ upcoming bio-pic Manson Girls. The 28-year-old American Beauty starlet will play Nancy Pitman, a Charles Manson cult follower who later served time for her involvement in a deadly Aryan Brotherhood murder.
Manson Girls is directed by Susanna Lo and costars Heather Matarazzo (Hostel II), Jennifer Landon (“As the World Turns”), Erin Kelly, Michael Monks and the very fat Nikki Blonsky (“Huge”). Production on the movie begins on Feb. 2011.
Birch was nominated for a Golden Globe award for her performance in the 2001 dramedy Ghost World. Since then, she has been slumming it in the straight-to-DVD market, appearing in Dark Corners, Train and the Brittany Murphy vehicle Deadline.
(UPDATE: THORA HAS DROPPED OUT OF THE MOVIE. MOST LIKELY BECAUSE OF THIS)
Photos of sexy 19-year-old newcomer Jennifer Lawrence on the set of director Mathew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class have hit the web. The images feature Lawrence as young mutant Mystique—in hot black miniskirt and boots—taking a stroll in the rain with James McAvoy’s Professor Charles Xavier.
Actress Rose Byrne (28 Weeks Later) also pops up in the shots—in caramel boots—as Charles love interest Dr. Moira MacTaggert.
X-Men: First Class costars January Jones as Emma Frost, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, and Caleb Landry as Banshee.
Universal Pictures has rolled out an action-packed trailer for the straight-to-DVD prequel Death Race: Frankenstein Lives. Directed by Roel Reine, the film stars former-prison-inmate-turned-Hollywood-headliner Danny Trejo, Silent Hill’s Sean Bean, Piranha’s Ving Rhames, “Supernatural” starlet Lauren Cohan, and South African model/actress Tanit Phoenix.
Death Race 2 takes place in the very near future, as the United States economy begins to decline and violent crime starts to spiral out of control. To contain the growing criminal population, a vast network of for-profit, private prisons springs up, creating a lawless subculture ruled by gangs, cold-blooded killers and sociopaths.
The worst of these prisons is Terminal Island. Convicted cop-killer Carl Lucas arrives on the Island to serve his life sentence just as ruthlessly ambitious television personality September Jones launches the ultimate reality show, Death Race.
A brutal prison yard demolition derby that pits prisoners against each other in steel reinforced, heavily armed vehicles, Death Race offers the winner the ultimate prize: freedom — if he can survive to enjoy it. When Lucas signs up to be a driver, the stage is set for the birth of a legendary racer.
The original Death Race 2000 was produced by Roger Corman in 1975 and starred chronic masturbator David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone. The film was remade by director Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil: Afterlife) in 2008 with Jason Statham in the driver’s seat. The remake earned over $72 million in worldwide coin.
Olivia Wilde is set to star in director Andrew Niccol’s (Gattaca) new soon-to-be-retitled dystopian sci-fi thriller I’m.mortal. Wilde joins a cast that includes Amanda Seyfried, Justin Timberlake, and Cillian Murphy.
I’m.mortal is set in a future where people physically stop aging by 25 and must then purchase time to determine life expectancy. Those with lots of money can live forever. Those without are shit out of luck.
Wilde will play ailing mother to Timberlake’s character, a fugitive on the run from a Timekeeper (Murphy) for possibly having murdered a wealthy man for his time. Seyfried plays the man’s daughter. The film goes into production this year and will be distributed through 20th Century Fox.
Up next for Wilde are Disney’s upcoming Christmas tent-pole release Tron: Legacy and director Jon Favreau’s Cowboys & Aliens.
Director J.T. Petty’s (Burrowers) ode to snuff films S&Man (pronounced sandman) arrives on DVD and Blu-ray disc on Oct. 12. The film follows Petty as he documents the life and work of an underground horror filmmaker named Eric Rost, who may or may not be killing his actresses.
Check it, yo:
S&Man joins a growing list of films (i.e. Serbian Film, I Spit On Your Grave, Penance, Poughkeepsie Tapes) that embrace brutal violence towards women. Often times, the victims in these flicks are attractive women. That puzzles me. Why would anyone want to beat, dismember, and/or murder hot chicks? That’s like killing puppies or hating ice cream. Now fat chicks—that I could understand.
Of course, I know that watching an actress like Nikki Blonssky (pictured above) get raped and tormented in a flick would disturb moviegoers’ cocks. It would also ruin the horror and suspense because things are only interesting when they happen to good looking people—and by people I mean hot topless chicks . This fact is something I’m hoping Petty explores in S&Man when he turns on his viewers thematically and forces them to examine their demented interest in the genre.
A creepy new trailer for Paramount Pictures eagerly anticipated sequel Paranormal Activity 2 is now haunting the web. The clip introduces the film’s new victims, a family of four and their German Shepard.
Though I maintain a once-bitten-twice-shy attitude towards this movie (I found the original to be as dull as it was nauseating), I gotta admit babies and dogs reacting to unseen entities freaks me the fuck out. I’m also a sucker for simple scares such as doors slamming shut on their own.
Peep it:
OK, when the daughter shows a picture of a young girl, does she say it’s a picture of Katie (the possessed chick from the first flick)?
Paranormal Activity 2 is directed by Kip Williams (Door in the Floor) and arrives in theaters on Oct. 22. Oren Peli returns as writer/producer. The film will face-off against Kevin Greutert’s Saw 7 in 3-D (GoTeam Jigsaw!).
Greutert had been attached to direct the Paranormal sequel, but was forced to remove himself over contractual obligations with Lionsgate.
Italian actress/pop singer Violante Placido will join Nicolas Cage in Columbia Pictures’ Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The 34-year-old starlet will play the mother of satan’s spawn.
Placido is best known in the States as the naked chick in the George Clooney spy-thriller The American. Ciaran Hinds, who starred on HBO’s “Rome” as Julius Caesar, has been cast as the devil.
Directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Gamer, Crank), Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance will find Johnny Blaze (Cage) hiding out in Eastern Europe, trying to find a cure for his Ghost Rider-y condition while helping to fight off the devil.
The first Ghost Rider grossed over $237 million despite sucking flaming donkey balls.
