Cassandra Peterson, better known as Elvira Mistress of the Dark, lets her hair down to play the concerned mother of a teenage horror movie fanatic in writer-director Joshua Grannell’s feature film debut All About Evil.
The synopsis reads:
All About Evil is a wicked black comedy set in the world of a horror movie about a mousy librarian (Natasha Lyonne) who inherits her father’s beloved but failing old movie house. In order to save the family business she discovers her inner serial killer – and a legion of rabid gore fans – when she starts turning out a series of grisly shorts. What her fans don’t realize yet is that the murders in the movies are all too real!
Costarring with Peterson are Natasha Lyonne (the ugly chick from American Pie), Thomas Dekker (A Nightmare On Elm Street), Noah Segen (Dead Girl), and Julie Caitlan Brown (“Babylon 5”).
Anchor Bay Entertainment has announced that it will release director Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo’s feature film debut After.Life on April 9 for a limited theatrical run. The film has been tagged with an R-rating for its disturbing images, language, and generous helping of Christina Ricci nudity.
(UPDATE: To see the first official After.Life trailer, click here)
After.Life, which held its premiere back in November as part of the AFI Fest in Los Angeles, stars Ricci as an automobile accident victim who awakens while her body is being prepped for burial by a mysterious mortician, played by Liam Neeson. According to those who caught the film’s premiere, Ricci appears nude through much of the film.
After.Life costars Justin Long, Josh Charles, and Chandler Canterbury. To see a new poster, go here.
The folks at Hollywood Life are reporting that human drug Lindsay Lohan will let her fun bags fly in Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming grindhouse-actioner Machete. The one-time-actress-turned-tabloid-star cameos as a sociopathic socialite named April Benz.
Hollywood Life reports:
Lindsay is slated to get wet and naked while swimming in a waterfall with Alicia Rachel Marek, 34, who plays her mother, June.
Lohan boobage? Mother-daughter kink? It’s as if my penis made a movie while I was sleeping.
Check out Machete’s faux-trailer, which ran as part of Rodriguez’s and Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 Grindhouse collaboration, to get an idea of the scene in question:
Oscar-winning actress/producer Charlize Theron (Monster, The Road) and producer/director David Fincher (Zodiac, Se7en) are developing a new HBO crime drama based on the book Mind Hunter:Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by renowned FBI profiler John Douglas and novelist/filmmaker Mark Olshaker (Mind of a Serial Killer).
The series will recount Douglas’ experiences on the field while tracking down serial killers and rapists. “Dexter” executive producer Scott Buck is writing the pilot.
Douglas pioneered the profiling techniques used by the Bureau today and was the inspiration for the agent Jack Crawford character in author Thomas Harris’ Hannibal Lecter novels and the Frank Black character in Chris Carter’s “Millennium” series.
He has profiled such noted monsters as JohnWayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, David Berkowitz, (aka: Son of Sam), Charles Manson, James Earl Ray, Edmund Kemper (aka: the Coed Killer), Richard Speck, and countless others.
Though he retired in the mid-nineties, Douglas continued to consult in such high-profile cases as The Unabomber, the Nicole Brown Simpson/ Ron Goldman murders, and the JonBenet Ramsey homicide.
If you want to freak yourself out, read Douglas’ The Anatomy of Motive and Anyone You Want Me to Be: A True Story of Sex and Death on the Internet.
For over a decade, B-movie scream queen Tiffany Shepis has been chased, tormented, and brutalized (often while in the buff) in such straight-to-DVD trash fare as Dark Reel, Bloody Murder 2, and Embrace the Darkness 3. This year, the busty 30-year-old may finally get some payback in former AFI head of press and public relations John Wildman’s directorial debut Stripped.
Described as a post-feminist horror film, Stripped revolves around two brothers and a friend whose night of partying comes to a dreadful end when they find themselves trapped in a house occupied by a family of homicidal, man-hating women. It’s not clear if Shepis will be playing one of the psycho bitches or if she is the “friend” mentioned in the description. Either way, I’m sure both roles will call for nudity.
Stripped is set to shoot in May in Dallas, Texas. Jeffrey Allard (The Violent Kind, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Adam Donaghey are attached as producers.
Director Michael Winterbottom’s film adaptation of the Jim Thompson’s 1952 novel The Killer Inside Me caused plenty of panties to bunch up at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. The serial-killer drama triggered disgust and anger among many female viewers, leading to public outcries (one woman yelled “How dare you” at Winterbottom during the premiere’s Q&A) and walkouts, including one by star Jessica Alba (her reps claim she had a flight to catch).
The film’s controversial scenes include rough sex and raw, prolonged violence against its female leads, namely Kate Hudson and Jessica Alba, the latter of which gets spanked with a belt and later punched in the face repeatedly. Casey Affleck plays perverted, homicidal maniac-with-a-badge Lou Ford. To see the offending scenes for yourself, click here.
In an interview with Anne Thompson, Winterbottom states:
The violence is shocking in the book and it’s shocking in the film. It’s not a police procedural. The story is being told by someone who’s crazy. The story is the way he tells it and sees it, not the way it happened. The film has no sense of pleasure in the violence.
The audience didn’t understand that when they watch this shocking violence, Casey is not the hero where the audience gets off on it. It should be shocking and brutal.
No word yet on whether The Killer Inside Me has scored a distribution deal.
Guests of Universal Studios Hollywood will go ape-shit this summer when they come face-to-face with a 3-D King Kong. Created by Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson and his F/X team Weta Digital, the two-and-a-half minute attraction will be part of the theme park’s back lot studio tram tour.
“King Kong 360 3-D, created by Peter Jackson (the attraction’s official name)” was built on a 200-foot-long sound stage with a “tram-mover” system capable of rocking the tram back and forth, up and down. The attraction also features two 180-foot-long by 40-foot-tall screens that wrap around the tram to create an all encompassing 3-D environment.
Universal Studios show producer Valerie Johnson-Redrow promises:
You are really going to be immersed in every part of the show. We are going to bring you to Skull Island. We are going to bring you right in the middle of a knock- down, drag-out fight with a T. rex.
The new King Kong attraction replaces the 30-foot-tall animatronic Kong that was destroyed during the park’s 2008 back lot fire.

Zelda Rubinstein passed away today. The actress, best known for her portrayal of medium Tangina Barrons in the Poltergeist series, was taken off life support late last month after suffering lung and kidney failure while at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles. She was 76.
Rubinstein acting credits also include Southland Tales, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, Teen Witch, Anguish, Wishcraft, and David Kelly’s surreal small town TV drama “Picket Fences.”
Marvel Studios head of production Kevin Feige has indirectly confirmed the crime-fighting roster to Marvel’s upcoming superhero epic The Avengers.
In an interview with British sci-fi mag SFX, Feige says:
My only concern is that when we launch a franchise … whichever characters franchise that may be, it should stand on its own two feet. With Iron Man being the first one out of the gate, thank goodness thats what happend. Everyone loved it. Its our job to do the same with Thor and Captain America two years from now, so by the time The Avengers comes in 2012 its not just a team super hero moviewith a bunch of characters with powers, its three people, four including Hulk , five including Nick Fury-who you have seen before in other movies, coming together for the very first time.
Julianna Guill, better known as the hot topless chick in last year’s Friday the 13th reboot, has joined the cast of The Apparition, a Paranormal Activityripoff influenced thriller from director Todd Lincoln and Dark Castle Entertainment. Guill and her magnificent breasts will star alongside Twilight babe Ashley Greene and “Gossip Girl” bad-boy Sebastian Stan.
The Apparition is “based on a true story” and follows the plight of a young married couple tormented by ghosts after a college experiment goes inexplicably wrong. The film is set to go into production in February.
Check out Guill’s talents in the following clip from Friday the 13th (an extended version of the scene is available on the home editions):
