Welcome to Crazy Town: New Trailer for ‘The Crazies’

The one thing I enjoy more than a George Romero movie is a remake of a George Romero movie. The iconic filmmaker has written and directed such influential horror shows as Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Martin. Unfortunately, Romero’s best work (with the exception of 2005’s Land of the Dead)  was done during the ’70s and early ’80s.

While horror purists hold Romero’s films close to their black little hearts, I just can’t get past how dated they are to truly enjoy them. That’s why I loved Zack Snyder’s 2004 take on Dawn of the Dead and why I am totally looking forward to director Breck Eisner’s (Beyond) remake of Romero’s underrated 1973 classic The Crazies.

The Crazies is set in a small Midwestern town plagued by a mysterious virus that makes the infected act on their violent urges. The few townsfolk not poisoned during the outbreak are left to fend for themselves as the military quarantines their town in an effort to contain the disease.

Check out the latest trailer:

Among the survivors are the town’s sheriff (Timothy Olyphant), his pregnant wife (Radha Mitchell), sheriff’s deputy Russell (Joe Anderson), and medical worker Becca (Danielle Panabaker).
